CLAY: We played last week a woman named Merianne Jensen, who is from Northern Virginia, and did a phenomenal job. I shared her clip of her passionate defense of why her children should not be required to wear a mask. She just reached out to me during the show today, and we need to play this clip tomorrow again, and there are many parents out there — I was one of them — who had been going to their local school boards to speak out against wearing masks.
She just sent me a message and said that YouTube — YouTube — had disallowed her three-minute speech to be posted on their website, because they say it violates community standards. Now, Buck, this three-minute discussion — this speech that she made — was at a school board meeting, a public venue designed to debate and discuss the policies that are going to be implemented by a school board. That is the very definition of the marketplace of ideas.
Moms and dads should be able to show up and argue for or against a variety of different topics, and then places like YouTube should allow those arguments to be shared so that whether or not you agree with the moms or dads who make those arguments — and certainly I’m in favor of Merianne Jensen and the arguments she made against masks. That’s the very essence of the marketplace of ideas!
If you say it violates community standards to allow someone to make an argument in a public forum like that, you are directly attacking American democracy itself in terms of being able to share that argument. I’m super fired up about this, and we’re gonna have her — scheduled to get her — on tomorrow to talk about this. But, Buck, even as we’re trying to win this masking battle, Big Tech’s opposition to basic data and facts and science is infuriating.
BUCK: It’s outrageous. It’s outrageous, and we have a mom in Connecticut who is saying that masks are dehumanizing.
JENNIFER ORR: My daughter is a senior at Foran High School. She looks over and she sees a math teacher and she says, “Oh, my God. Hi” to so-and-so. And teacher says, “Oh, my God! Uh, hi. I didn’t even recognize you. I’ve never seen your face before.” Lela’s been in that class for 3-1/2 months. This is dehumanizing, it’s demoralizing, and these teachers should see a human face.
BUCK: It’s disgusting what’s being done to kids, and I know this is gonna be hard for a lot of people when a society, Clay, goes through a mass hysteria, whether it is burning of alleged witches, which happened… People think of it in the Salem Witch Trials in this country. It was actually quite widespread in the 1600s in parts of Europe, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, there would be witch burnings that would happen.
Societies… That was obviously hundreds of years ago. The point here being nobody ever wants to have to wake up and realize, “Oh, my God. I was one of the bad people, “and when you look at what’s gone on here with covid, they got so used to the “pandemic of the unvaccinated,” they got so used to, “We know how to stop covid! We are the good folks. We know how to shut this thing down.”
But now that that’s obviously not true, and now that “we did everything right” is a laugh line to anyone who’s actually paying attention and watching the numbers, one of the major challenges we have is, you have a lot of people… It’s one thing if you had to mask your kid up, just to be very clear, so they could go to school. Right? You know that you had no choice. It was state force used against you, same way that you and I have to mask up on planes.
But for people that push those policies and even for parents that gladly, even gleefully went along with it, there’s a reckoning coming their way. They were abusing their own children here because Fauci told them to? It’s stunning when you actually think of the implications. So we’re gonna have to unravel this for a long time to come. Nobody ever wants to think they were on the wrong side of history. The mask maniacs clearly were.
CLAY: Buck, when I spoke in August at my local school board and argued against masks, there were tons of people who had come from the hospital still wearing their scrubs to show up and argue that the science and the data demanded that all kids wear masks. Those people in my particular school district have been proven one billion percent wrong. They looked down on parents like me — moms and dads — who got up and made the argument that our kids didn’t need to be in masks.
They were lecturing us for not understanding science. They argued that they were the force of reason. Remember one woman who was a doctor got up and argued at that same place that I argued. Buck, they tried to take her medical license for having the audacity to look at the science and say, “I’m a doctor, and I don’t believe that kids need to be wearing masks.”
She was completely right. Parents like myself were completely right, and tomorrow we’re gonna talk with that parent from Virginia where the battles are ongoing. And I am so fired up at the idea that YouTube is taking down parent speeches which are 100% factually accurate and arguing they violate community standards.
