What’s the Best Vampire Movie?
13 Dec 2021
CLAY: Sometimes you’re surprised by what the audience loves. There’s a lot of people willing to fight over the Twilight books and the Twilight movies.
BUCK: I think it’s just the Twilight people are very willing to fight. I’m not sure there’s a lot of people who like Twilight that… I think it might be the folks who are true believers. I don’t know.
CLAY: Best vampire movie ever made.
BUCK: That is a really… Okay, hold on, hold on, hold on.
CLAY: Shall we save it for tomorrow? I don’t want to put you on the spot.
BUCK: Let me give the thought. I will come back to it, but I will get it out there today because I feel like the obvious choice for a lot of people would be Interview With the Vampire. I actually kind of like the Bram Stoker with Gary Oldman and Keanu Reeves. For what it is, it’s not bad. Interview with the Vampire certainly high up on the list. I think… Okay, this is gonna drive… Some people are gonna say I’m nuts, which they say. Blade is one of the most underrated superhero movies of all time with Wesley Snipes. After Major League, it is Wesley Snipes’ finest film.
CLAY: Blade is phenomenal. The answer to best vampire movie is The Lost Boys.
BUCK: Oh, wow. The whole EIB squad here at NYC just jumped up for joy. They totally agree with you on that.
CLAY: It’s a hundred percent The Lost Boys.
BUCK: I saw that movie a million times, so I think that’s an interesting one. It’s better than Interview With the Vampire, though?
CLAY: Oh, yeah, way better than Interview With the Vampire.
BUCK: I don’t know.
CLAY: I think Bram Stoker’s Dracula is not bad. I mean, that’s a direct vampire movie — and if you want to go super old school, the original Nosferatu, the German film that was the initial vampire movie of all time, is pretty fantastic. A silent film, but it’s pretty good. But I’d say The Lost Boys.
BUCK: I actually think The Strain, which was a show on not AMC, but something like that. What’s the station, FX? It was an FX show, vampire show. Pretty cool for what it is. If anyone likes that horror genre, you looking to binge watch something, I thought The Strain was good. You know what I’m talking about? It’s pretty good.
CLAY: Is that based on the book? There was the book by Justin Cronin that was fantastic.
BUCK: Yeah. It’s a graphic novel. It’s a graphic novel. That’s right.
