This Crime Wave Is Complete and Total Madness

8 Jul 2021

On the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, we’ve been talking a lot about the rise in the biggest crimes — murder, shootings, and things that are incredibly violent — but also how smaller, quality-of-life crimes that are not being prosecuted all over this country set the stage for the kind of lawlessness we see in blue cities like San Francisco.

Buck called for restoring the rule of law, prosecuting violence, and stop letting rioters and looters go without punishment. “If we embrace the broken windows theory — not letting people walk out of the store with garbage bags full of cosmetics which has caused Walgreens to close 17 stores — we can restore order in this country.”

Clay agreed. “It’s easy to say only prosecute people who steal expensive things. But then if you’re basically encouraging and letting everyone know that they have free rein to steal lesser expensive things, guess what happens? Your overall loss rate skyrockets at many of these places.”

Meanwhile, Alvin Bragg, the presumptive DA in Buck’s native New York City, believes that we need to fight not against crime, but against “mass incarceration, racial disparity, and police misconduct,” while seeking “alternatives to incarceration and restorative justice.”

“Those are fancy words for ‘not gonna prosecute people,'” Buck said, “because we think the system is wrong and oppressive and racist.” Bragg also plans to release anyone arrested the very same day, unless they commit a violent felony or violent sexual assault or violent felony. Of this Clay and Buck said in unison, “It’s pure madness.”
