CLAY: Buck, one of the challenges of this whole covid mess in general has been exacerbated by Big Tech’s decision to be so wrong in labeling so much as misinformation and making it even more confusing for people out there when it comes to actually understanding what the data says.
Which is why I think certainly for our audience they’ve respected the fact that you and I have basically analyzed the data from the get-go and acknowledged that it’s hard to predict where things are going but that the data should guide all of our public policy responses.
And some of that data, occasionally, will be very negative towards the idea of vaccinating young and healthy people. In fact, the data doesn’t support in any way that children need to be vaccinated for covid. And look, this is my perspective.
I don’t believe, if you have young children, that it makes sense to vaccinate them for covid based on the threat potential right now. Let me explain that. I’m not an anti-vaxxer ’cause somebody will grab that clip and they’ll be like, “Oh, Clay Travis said that he doesn’t support vaccines!”
BUCK: Do you know what the new definition of “anti-vaxxer” is, according to Merriam-Webster dictionary, folks? Clay knows because I told him about that before we talked about this. You are now considered an anti-vaxxer under dictionary definition if you oppose vaccine mandates. Isn’t that cute?
I would rather most kids in America get covid because it doesn’t impact them and have the immunity naturally than I would to force kids who are 5 and 6 years old or even younger to get the vaccine. Well, Buck, young, healthy people, there are stories out there. They are a minority; they are certainly outlier stories. But some young, healthy people get the vaccine and have massive issues with it like this woman, unfortunately, out of the state of Washington.
BUCK: And you’re not allowed to talk about it.
CLAY: They won’t allow it. Yeah.
BUCK: That’s part of this was that I think people are starting to see and realize is really chilling is that we should have… They talk about the science and the data and then they’ll suppress science and data when it goes against the narrative of the elites and the Democrat apparatus of control.
And now we’ve even seen something — another, I would say, covid dystopian measure unveiled — that many of us have said it’s just a matter of time. Remember when we were talking about how there were people who were saying they’re gonna deny medical care based on vaccinations, deny essential lifesaving medical care based on vaccination status.
There’s now a Colorado-based hospital system that — and there’s been reporting on this; it’s been confirmed. They are saying that if you are on the organ transplant donor list and you are unvaccinated, you’re going into essentially the inactive status. You’re not getting an organ. Sorry. And the way they’re justifying this is by saying if you were to get that organ and you were to get covid, you are less likely to survive.
So they’re treating it like a medical triage issue when, first of all, as we know, organ donations comes with a lot of risk to begin with. And on top of that, you can actually still get covid even if you get the vaccine, which we now know because Pfizer’s own data, their study shows that after six months your protective level is 50% from infection.
CLAY: Yes.
CLAY: It’s the flu shot, and we don’t ever call the flu shot a vaccine. We say that it is a helpful measure that elderly people should get and people who are at risk
BUCK: We call it the flu shot. We don’t really say flu vaccine.
CLAY: We say the flu shot because to me a vaccine has to be way more protective than that. We say, “Hey, it’s a measles, mumps, rubella vaccine.” This is what I keep hammering home, Buck, is you never worry, like, I’ve never in my entire life worried about that I was gonna get measles ’cause I got the vaccine.
But everybody who got the covid vaccine in the back of their head, they know that it’s not that effective. So they’re afraid. Their fear is that they’re still going to get covid even though they’ve got the vaccine, and now we’re talking about a 50% efficacy rate after six months. That’s basically the flu shot, right? That’s what this is for covid, flu shot.
BUCK: And now they’re gonna say, “Get a booster!”
CLAY: Forever.
BUCK: Find me one medical doctor or practitioner who can say with any confidence – -or is willing to say, period — that you will not have to get more boosters after this booster to keep you protected.
CLAY: For years and years.
BUCK: How could that be the case? Do we think…? Maybe people believe we’re gonna cure covid, so to speak? They think that that’s just over the horizon? So if we can just get to that point. As it turns out, that was actually what Australia and New Zealand were effectively; they did the-lockdown-until-vaccine plan. That was their plan.
CLAY: Yep.
BUCK: And now they’ve realized, “Weeell, doesn’t really work like that.” We’ve never cured the common cold. We’ve never cured the flu — meaning eradicated these respiratory viruses from circulation around the world. Why would we think it is imminent that we will cure covid, and if it’s not imminent that we will cure it, we are just in a cycle of shots, boosters.
So it does start to feel a lot more like the flu. And I think you’ll see people, by the way, that continue to say that you’re right. “We should mask up for flu season, too,” just so they can appear consistent now, even though at the beginning we said, “Well, that’s crazy,” right?
And I think, to your point, Buck, a lot of people are going to be so unwilling to acknowledge that everything that they did, that all the lectures, that the mask wearing, the social distancing, the berating people who weren’t vaccinated — all that — was effectively for naught. They weren’t getting a benefit from it. There’s gonna be a lot of people who insist, I think, going forward, “Oh, we have to wear masks forever on airplanes now.”
BUCK: I think every airline attendant who has humiliated and harassed somebody for not masking up quickly enough between bites, should for a long time to come feel that twinge of remorse that can only come from those moments in one’s life where you really how stupid and out of control you were. So that’s what I’m hoping we get to —
CLAY: We’re not gonna get it. Spoiler alert.
BUCK: — where people will be deeply embarrassed by the nonsense they put us through with covid.
CLAY: I don’t think flight attendants are gonna be like, “I’m sorry! I apologize! I was an imbecile!”
BUCK: I didn’t say they had to. But trust me, as somebody who’s been through that more than once, they could have been a little bit more cool about it. I got a bone to pick with the flight attendants. I’m not gonna lie.
