Soviet Mary Poppins: “Kamala Slept Her Way to the Top” Is Disinformation

6 May 2022

BUCK: We were just talking before about the “disinformation” obsession with Democrats right now. On the one hand, they want to openly police disinformation as a function of government. They’ve already been doing it through social media, but they’re worried that maybe with Twitter going into Elon’s hands and becoming a true free speech platform, they won’t have quite the same ability to police disinformation.

So, they’re looking for other ways to shore up that advantage, and that has included Soviet Mary Poppins over at DHS. Here’s the kind of stuff that she says — and I just want to let you know, it’s not an accident. As much as Mayorkas, the DHS chief, may say, “Oh, we didn’t know that we had a left-wing, announce-her-pronouns loon in this disinformation role” — oh, no, no! That’s a requirement for the job under the Biden administration; trust me. Here she is.

BUCK: Oh. So, that is the kind of disinformation that this disinformation czar thinks should be policed. Put aside, there’s obviously different things you could say about disinformation policing in general. I would just note that what she’s actually… When someone says — and I’m not making this claim, but when she says, “Kamala Harris slept her way to the top? That’s disinformation,” you might say that’s like a mean thing to say and it’s untrue, but that’s an opinion. It’s actually not disinformation.

CLAY: It’s a hundred percent an opinion. And, by the way, it’s as if you’re not allowed to say she was Willie Brown’s girlfriend. That’s how she became a player in California politics — and, by the way, Willie Brown was married to somebody else so she was his side chick. It was widely known. So, you may not believe that that’s the reason she’s vice president —

BUCK: It’s an opinion rooted in fact, actually.

CLAY: Yeah, it’s kind of a significant detail that she had that the relationship, and it propelled her political career because Willie Brown was a powerful guy. Now, you may not call that sleeping to the top, but that’s not a crazy allegation to make.

BUCK: It’s not disinformation. What you find out is that the left… “Disinformation” is anything the left does not like. That’s what the term to them actually means. I don’t like what you say. It’s disinformation. Which means you’re not allowed to say it and you’re a bad person and probably a Russian stooge.

CLAY: The difference between fact and opinion is a big deal, and it illuminates how disinformation is almost impossible to police, to your point, because of the fact that information can be so different.
