Sen. Mike Lee on What’s at Stake in His Utah Race

BUCK: Mike Lee of Utah, the senator from Utah. He joins us now to talk about how, first of all, we got to get Mike Lee back in the Senate. Senator, thanks for calling in.

SEN. LEE: We’re here.

BUCK: There we go, sir. What do people need to…? We got a huge audience in Utah. We are very blessed, very fortunate that so many from that great state listen in. What do you want to tell them right now as you’re in the final days here before you’re up for reelection?

SEN. LEE: Number one, Evan McMullin is Joe Biden’s guy. He’d be Chuck Schumer’s 51st vote in the Senate. Make no mistake, this guy’s no independent. He’ll function, effectively, as a Democrat. We don’t want that. Number two, imagine if he had been there at the time of Justice Scalia’s passing. Based on his current political ideology, it’s pretty clear that he would have voted to confirm Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court. We don’t want that. We know that he would have also voted to confirm President Biden’s recent Supreme Court nominee, Justice Jackson, and that he would have voted against Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh.

Number three, if you’re in Utah, make sure you get out to vote, and if you’ve got your mail-in ballot, fill it out today and get it in the mail today. We don’t want any Election Day snafus. In a state that’s come to rely on mail-in ballots, they devote fewer and fewer resources every year to in-day — same day, in-person voting. And we don’t want that to cause problems. So, fill out your ballot, vote for me, get it sent in today. CLAY: Senator, we love everybody who listens out there in Utah to us, and we want them to listen to you carefully. And I’ll just make what I think is a pretty succinct argument here: If you think Joe Biden’s doing a good job, you should go vote for your opponent because he’s going to be a rubberstamp for everything Joe Biden wants to do, and everything Joe Biden has done has been a disaster. And I know most people in Utah agree with me. If you want Joe Biden to be stood up, too, and you want someone to fight against what Joe Biden is trying to make happen, there’s only one choice in this race and it’s you. This is not independence. This is you’re either a Biden guy or you’re not, and I know Utah is not for Biden. You’ve got to be for yourself, for Senator Lee. That kind of succinctly sums it up, right?

SEN. LEE: I think it does. Joe Biden is not popular in Utah and with good reason. Utahns are suffering under the yoke of his burdensome inflation created by his multitrillion-dollar reckless deficit spending. You know, they’ve hit Utah even harder than it’s hit most states, almost any other state. Average monthly expenses in Utah are up $949 per family per month relative to the day Joe Biden was inaugurated as president of the United States. That’s a 16% rate of inflation over just over a year and a half. Utahns can’t afford that. Most Americans can’t afford that. This is the predictable, foreseeable result of Biden’s reckless spending. We brought in $4 trillion last year in revenue when we spent nearly seven because Joe Biden has a rubberstamp Democratic Congress, and Evan McMullin would be part of that machine.
