Ron DeSantis Continues to Lead the Charge Against the Left

6 Jun 2022

GOV. DESANTIS: Even Harvard admitted, Florida, weโ€™ve seen no widening of any achievement gaps between rich, poor, black, white because we actually had kids in school. So, thatโ€™s going to have a huge impact, negative in these other states. And we will have mitigated a lot of the damage by having it here in Florida. And you canโ€™t put a price tag on that. Canโ€™t put a price tag on opportunity for kids and making sure parents have the ability. And, of course, separate from the budget, we believe that when parents send their kids to school itโ€™s for education, not for indoctrination and weโ€™re going to hold that line in Florida.

BUCK: Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida there, continuing to lead the way on so many issues.

I still keep asking this question โ€” by the way, people always answer it, like, well, have you not thought of this. No, I ask it rhetorically. I know thereโ€™s plenty of reasons why, but I asked the question to bring attention to it: Why arenโ€™t more Republican governors, including in much redder states than Florida, following DeSantisโ€™ lead?

He takes on Disney, he wins. He takes on the woke left, he wins. He takes on Fauciism, he wins. And heโ€™s turning Florida increasingly not just into a beacon of freedom from covid and covid lockdown madness but also an increasingly red state that is implementing conservative policies and ideas with considerable success, so I ask the question because thereโ€™s a lot of corporatists out there, including governors of very red states, people who want those corporate donations to flow. They want the New York Times to write nice things about them. Theyโ€™re not one of the bad Republicans.

I think itโ€™s worth noting DeSantis continues to lead the charge on so many of these things. I always tell people this, the second he disappointments me Iโ€™ll say it. It hasnโ€™t happened yet. Hasnโ€™t happened yet, Clay.

CLAY: I look at things, Buck, Iโ€™m always trying to figure out how to get to 60 percent. I understand people out there, hey, I want to win no matter what. I want to win by 5,000 votes if necessary.

I donโ€™t want to be in a position in 2022 or in 2024 where weโ€™re sitting around and you feel like you canโ€™t go to sleep because 40,000 ballots may come rolling in that are going to change the outcome of an entire election, right?

Clay and BuckAnd regardless of what you think, in 2020, that happened. In 2016 that happened. These were really pinprick elections one way or the other. And in fact, you can say that for the entire 21st century, because the only race that happened in the 21st century, think about it for a minute, where both sides said, yeah, Iโ€™m comfortable with who won and thereโ€™s no shady shenanigans, funny business that was involved is Obama โ€™08.

Think about that, Buck. Weโ€™ve had now 20-plus years of elections โ€” 2000, Bush v. Gore; 2004, Bush/Kerry โ€” Democrats said John Kerry in Ohio, some funky business going on there. โ€™08, Obama won, almost everybody agrees. โ€™12 Romney versus Obama very tight. โ€™16, Trump versus Hillary. Now โ€™20, Trump versus Biden.

Who is the person who can kick down the door and actually give us a landslide election? Thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m thinking about because I think weโ€™ll get a red wave in โ€™22. Who is the candidate in โ€™24? That is not just going to win but by like 9 oโ€™clock Eastern on election night weโ€™re going to be, like, letโ€™s pop the champagne; there is a Republican back in the White House.

BUCK: I think itโ€™s worth noting, Republicans accepted the election outcome in 2008 literally without complaint and in 2012 without complaint. It was Democrats who, in 2016, decided to make up a fantasy of Russia stealing the election because theyโ€™re a bunch of babies who assume that Hillary was going to shatter the ultimate glass ceiling.
