CLAY: I want to hit this story ’cause I don’t think it’s getting enough attention in the mainstream media. We covered it at OutKick. I hope that many of you are aware of this story because it’s basically beginning to look exactly like Jussie Smollett on a volleyball court. There was a match between BYU and Duke in Provo, Utah, where BYU is located — over 5,000 people at this event, this volleyball match — and a Duke black female player said that there were racial slurs yelled at her during the match.
This became one of the biggest stories in sports, and it spiraled well outside of sports. I bet a lot of you have heard about it. As more evidence has come out, you’re not gonna believe what the story looks like. There is no one that can actually provide any evidence that this ever happened. BYU got raked over the coals by the national media. “BYU fans, how dare they!”
Yet it appears that this entire story was made up and that there was no basis in fact for it whatsoever. This story was everywhere, and like many of these fake racism hoax, when it actually gets exposed — and you can go read about this at OutKick. When it actually gets exposed, everybody pretends that the story just vanished, and I want you to be thinking about the power to convey narrative. An allegation is immediately accepted as fact. You know as well as I do that everybody has phones inside of crowds now.
And if anybody does anything, there’s going to be a tape of it somewhere. This girl who plays on the team also happens to have a godmother who has strong ties to Democrats in Texas. And not surprisingly also has a string of very racist social media postings that she is now trying to scrub and hide. Now, plainly, you should never go to a sporting event and yell any racial slurs at anyone.
But the idea that stories like these keep being spread as if they are real — and then when they are blown up and no longer exist anymore — provide solid evidence that the demand for racism far exceeds the supply of racism in the media, which wants to convince us that America is a fundamentally awful place.
That’s what I want you to kind of think about as Biden is speaking tonight. Ask yourself this question. Do Democrats actually believe that America is a decent country? Not even a great country, just a decent country? The answer is of course they don’t. They are selling every single day the lie that America is an awful, racist country, and they’re using lies to help to propagate that narrative. But BYU deserves to be cleared here, ‘cause the school did nothing wrong, the fans did nothing wrong, and the people of that university have been widely attacked based on a lie.
