Unvaccinated Americans Share Stories of Discrimination

BUCK: Sharon in Brooklyn, New York. NYC in the house. Whatโs up, Sharon?
CALLER: Yes. Hi. Iโm a city employee, and, regarding the vax mandate, I was told either I vax or you donโt come back. And just want to know, like, where do I start in terms of pushing back? Iโm one person. Weโre all very much in our own little bubble. And I just want to know, like, where I even start. This de Blasio is just dictating mandates playing with this communist agenda here. And I justโฆ Where do I go? What do I do?
CLAY: Whatโs your financial situation, Sharon? Because I think thatโs the first question that I would ask in general. If you didnโt have your job tomorrow, would you be able to take care of your family? Would your overall lifestyle be able to continue in the same way? โCause I think this is where the rubber meets the road, and thatโs the first question that I ask anybody on this situation like this.
CALLER: I think I would beโฆ Well, you know, when youโre a DOE employee, you have a pension.
CLAY: Yes.
CALLER: They have, like, this net. Youโre kind of tied in something where, like, the longer you work, the more, the better your pension at the end. And I guess โ
BUCK: I worked for the NYPD. I know. That was the big thing, Sharon. I was a civilian contractor, terrorism expert working for intel division. But I just bring it up because I remember those guys, they work for 20 for their pension, right?
CLAY: Yeah.
BUCK: So you leave at 16 or 17 years whatever, thatโs a huge โ and Iโm sure itโs that way for a lot of other city jobs. Sharon, thereโs noโฆ This is why Iโm kind of shouting from the rooftops. We need people in positions of power in places across the country to start protesting under rights of conscienceโฆ Almost like youโre a conscientious vaccine objector, if you will. Under rights of conscience and anti-discrimination statute, we have to have people who say, you canโt be forced to get the vaccine. It wonโt happen in New York anytime soon, but if it would happen somewhere, Clay, at least weโd have the beginning of the resistance.
CLAY: Yeah, and, Sharon, my answer โ and look, we canโt tell what to do. But, Buck, what theyโre trying to do is paint people into a corner where they have no other options and thatโs why I think itโs so frustrating to so many people out there. If you are required to have your job, most people have to get out of bed every day and go to work in order to be able to live in their lifestyle as is.
Iโm gonna be honest with you. I would go ahead and get the vaccine, right? I would not put myself into financial straits over this. Itโs my personal opinion. If you are fortunate enough to have financial stability and/or you can go to another job because your job is somewhat mobile, I would use that as an option.
BUCK: Clay, can I just jump in โ
CLAY: Yeah.
BUCK: โ to say that youmight have to get the vax at the next job right?
CLAY: Thatโs the challenge.
BUCK: Theyโre gonna keep chasing you so while I hear exactly what youโre saying, Sharon, I think that you gotta do whatโs best for you, and you can be the only real judge of that. But I think take care of yourself and your family, and only you can really know what that means. Iโm sorry youโre put in this position, and this is why the tyrants all across the country are finding ways to force needles in our arms.
CLAY: This is one of the most common questions we get, Buck.
BUCK: Yeah.
CLAY: I get this, I bet, every day from tons of listeners.
BUCK: I donโt want people that work hard, did the right thingโฆ I donโt want them losing their pensions.
CLAY: Thatโs right.
BUCK: I know and Iโd like to say, โOh, what about this, what about that.โ Itโs not gonna change in New York. Sharon, thank you for sharing your story.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
BUCK: The Pacific Coast, Oregon City. Chris, whatโs going on?
CALLER: Hey, Clay and Buck, thanks for taking my call. I got something I want to relate to you. Iโm a veteran. I was in Vietnam. And I have a condition caused by Agent Orange. I went in for an appointment, and they told me, โHave you taken your covid test yet?โ I said, โNo, and the reason why, there are a lot of false positives. I feel great. I do a lot of workouts, martial artist, black belt in three different martial arts, and I feel really good.โ
And they said, โWell, weโre not gonna give you the treatment yet,โ and I said, โBut, yeah, thereโs false positives and if I get a false positive then youโre gonna put me on a list where I have to take the vaccine, right?โ And they go, โYeah,โ and I said, โIโm not gonna take the vaccine, Iโm not gonna do it โcause thereโs too many anomalies to it.โ And then they said, โWell, youโre not gonna get the treatment.โ
BUCK: So theyโre denying you treatment if you donโt get the vaccine.
CALLER: Yes.
BUCK: Chris, thanks for calling in. Clay, I just had someone today call me from a pediatricianโs office they sent out something if youโre not vaccinated the pediatrician will not see you, you can only get tell he visits. Thatโs not nowโฆ By the way, had the virus? Have antibodies? They donโt care, vaccine or else. Thatโs what weโre all โ theyโre denying people now access to their normal medical care unless you get the vaccine. This is what weโre all heading for. Mary in Danville, Pennsylvania, Mary, what do you got?
CALLER: Hi. My health care system had me deployed last year. This year, they turned around, sent out a mandate that we have to get vaccinated by October 15th or we no longer have a job. Does not matter if we had covid, doesnโt matter the antibodies. We can fill out a medical or religious exemption that goes to a committee, but weโre not guaranteed to get that. We have pregnant and breast-feeding people that are being denied on the medical exemption.
CLAY: I justโฆ Thank you for the call, by the way, and I appreciate all the difficult decisions that people are having to make out there. And itโs so frustrating to me, and I know it is to you as well, Buck, that we have eliminated all nuance as it pertains to choices that people are making. We try to be transparent, straightforward. I understand, everybody doesnโt want to talk about the health decisions they have to make. But, man, it is justโฆ This hero-villain dynamic which has been set up with the vaccine doesnโt accurately reflect whatโs actually going on out there.
BUCK: Yeah. I donโt want anyone to get covid. You donโt want anyone to get covid. We donโt want anyone to be sick. We want all of our fellow Americans, our fellow human beings to be happy and healthy and fine. These are very complicated decisions that are being made for us, unfortunately, in so many cases.
