Is Carville Right About Whatโs Motivating Voters?
6 May 2022
CLAY: James Carville got Bill Clinton elected in 1992 with the phrase โItโs the economy, stupid.โ He was asked about the response that conservatives have to liberals associated with abortion. I thought thisโฆ By the way, his accent is also perfect, Raginโ Cajun. Heโs actually somewhat sane in the Democrat Party. Listen to him talk about the way that he thinks Democrats are talking in general about larger issues, but hereโs an abortion answer.
James Carville: Roe opponents are โjustifiedโ in their belief that even if the case is overturned, โall Democrats are going to do is sit around and talk about veganism and pronouns.โ pic.twitter.com/PYHMHFbkP3

CLAY: I saw that line, which I think is accurate because theyโre so out of touch with the general American population. But, yes, the thing that is interesting โ weโll be talking with Ann about this in a moment, but the thing that is interesting โ about the abortion debate in general is when you drill down and ask people about specifics, thereโs no way that itโs two-to-one in favor of Roe v. Wade.
