As we get ready for the Olympics, hammer thrower Gwen Berry has generated attention for turning her back on the National Anthem. But as a Twitter user discovered, just a few years ago she had no problem whatsoever bathing herself in the American flag.
Now she says the anthem is racist because of a reference to slavery in a stanza of Francis Scott Key’s poem. Just one problem: She has her history wrong, as you’ll hear Clay and Buck explain.
