Granholm: Gas Prices Are All Putin’s Fault
20 May 2022
BUCK: We’re gonna have Senator Hawley, Josh Hawley from Missouri joining us here at the top of the next hour, ’cause one area where the Democrats are so vulnerable, is they keep pretending that the price of gas has nothing to do with them. “The price of energy? There’s no Democrat policies that are making it more expensive for you to heat your home, cool your home, fill your car with gas!” Here is an exchange between the energy secretary Jen Granholm — who I’ve actually had an exchange with in the past, and I can tell you she’s an imbecile.
CLAY: (laughing)
BUCK: And here is the Senator with her, this member of the Biden cabinet. Play clip 1, please.

BUCK: (laughing)
CLAY: (laughing) He’s gonna join us next at the top of the hour. What percentage of the time, Buck, when someone says, “with all due respect,” do they actually mean, “With no respect whatsoever”?
BUCK: It’s like when they say, “no offense, but,” there’s offense coming.
CLAY: If you ever get into an argument with your wife and you say, “With all due respect,” you might as well just leave the house. That is not… “With all due respect,” is not a good direction.
BUCK: The Buck Cave has a comfy couch. If you ever need it, don’t worry we got you.
CLAY: You were talking… By the way, the Hawley audio there is incredible: $6 — $6 ! — for a gallon of gas. I told this story a couple weeks ago, Buck. My closest gas station right down from his house, the one that I stop at most frequently, I went there I was taking my kid to Little League and I went and stopped there on a Saturday morning, and the person directly in front of me — and I don’t know who they were because they had already left.
But you know when you get out and you look at what the cost of gas was right in front of you. The person directly in front of me had bought one gallon of gas. $4.50-ish at that time that cost. Think about where we are that so many people who have to fill up their car to be able to drive to and from work, to take their kids to and from school, to be able to live their lives…
Somebody’s probably just hoping to get to that next paycheck so that they can fill up the rest of their car. We got people out there buying gallons at a time of gas at $4.50. And I wish I’d seen the person in front of me, ’cause I probably would have given ’em a five or 10 bucks, honestly just because you feel like I know what that person is going through just based off getting out.
And look, there’s a lot of people out there who are filling up their car and taking over a hundred dollars and that’s real money too. But think about that person who’s trying to get to work, trying to get their kid to school, pulling into a gas station, only able to afford one gallon of gas right now.
BUCK: And that person, those individuals who this is really hurting —
CLAY: Yes.
BUCK: — were promised by the Biden administration, by the Biden campaign that this was the opposite of what they would face. Joe Biden with the same spiel he’s been pulling for decades, “Oh, I’m just Middle Class Joe. I’m just like you; I’m from Scranton!” You know, forget about the $5 million beach house in Delaware and, you know, Hunter Biden’s $11 million for being a crackhead who doesn’t know anything. Just go down the list of stuff that you know about Joe Biden that shows about his whole “I’m a workingman” thing. He promised the working men and women of America that this would be a presidency for them.
CLAY: That’s right.
BUCK: And for anybody that had any questions about this I just want to remind them, because we have the working men and women of America listening to this show right now, how did they feel 18 months into the Trump presidency? When I say feel, I mean how does their wallet feel, how does their bank account look, how does that stress at night when they’re thinking about, “Can I pay the mortgage? Do I have to borrow some money from a family member?” Compare it to where you were 18 months into Trump, 18 months into Biden I think it tells the tale, Clay.
CLAY: No doubt.
