BUCK: Senator Rand Paul is spot-on as usual, on any issue related to covid. Welcome back to Clay and Buck. They’ve already brought back the mask mandate in San Diego. And now it’s likely to hit in other places too. This remarkably, just absurd piece in the New York Times, a couple of days ago, about how covid cases are rising, and mask compliance on the subway is going down. You know, they’ll just pick random areas of your life to annoy you, if you live in a blue area.
Notice, it’s entirely now, broken down along political lines. The redder the place you are, in terms of politics, the less lunacy you have to deal with. And, I mean, Clay, we were just talking about how the whole premise of the vaccine mandates was you’re not allowed to make this choice for you, because you will get it and give it to somebody unless you get the shot. It’s reckless. It’s irresponsible for you not to get the shot, because it’s about other people, the immune compromised, the elderly. They beat everybody into submission they could with those talking points. Total lies. Totally untrue. Totally irrelevant to the health situation in the country right now. And they don’t care. It’s amazing. We’re just going to keep on going.
CLAY: Republicans. I agree with you. We’ve been saying this for a while. You’ve been saying it in the open. This should be in the midterms, a red wave, and you should be voting on based on one thing, really, over the past couple of years, and that is Democrat’s complete failure as it pertains to covid. But I think Republicans need to take it a step further. And there has been some talk about how there’s no national message necessarily coming out of Republicans in the House and the Senate.
I think Republicans should pledge that when they take back the House and the Senate, Buck. They are going to vote, that every single person who lost their job, for a refusal to get covid should get their jobs back with back pay, especially in the federal government in particular. Everybody out there in the military, anyone in a school, a state government employee. Anybody out there, that was forced by their government, to get the covid shot or leave, that should be a focus of the House and the Senate if the Republicans take back control. And I think there’s a lot of people out there who think that’s right. Given how much money we’ve spent on covid. The number of people who have had to leave their jobs. It’s indefensible. Democrats were wrong, Republicans should fix it.
BUCK: Every person who put pressure on and showed disdain toward people in their workplace, who didn’t want to get this shot, should feel some shame and should apologize.
CLAY: And should lose their jobs. I mean, because ultimately — I’m talking about the politicians. The reason why they have jobs is for their judgment was wrong. They failed utterly. And there should be consequences. That’s why we have to have a red wave.
