CLAY: I want to say this, Buck. We’re talking about covid and how much of a difference there is. I don’t know that there’s ever been a time when there was a more substantial difference between states. Let’s say you’re on a plane. You land in Florida and you’re from New York or you hop on a plane in California, and you fly to Texas where when you get off that plane or vice-versa, there is a seismic difference in what life feels like.
The red states are free. The blue states are locking down and the blue cities, and the media is continuing to be wildly dishonest. I’m gonna keep hammering on this ’cause I’m a red state guy. I live in the SEC footprint. I’m born and raised here. Buck, during the summer the media was out there crushing Texas and Governor Greg Abbott, crushing Florida and Governor Ron DeSantis.
Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi — all these different Southern states — Arkansas, Missouri, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia. I’m trying to fit you all in there. Kentucky, too. Missouri. All of these states had massively high Delta variant cases, and what did the media say? “Look at those stupid rednecks!” I’ve been called a stupid redneck my whole life ’cause I’m born and raised in Nashville and every Southerner knows that feeling.
We get talked down to ’cause we live in the red states. All of the mainstream media — New York, L.A., all the elites — were saying, “Look at these stupid, ignorant, redneck Trump voters. They’re all gonna die! All they need to do is be vaccinated and this story would go away.” All of the red state focus, all of the social and intellectual capital rained down upon us and we were all stupid.
Listen to this right now, Buck. The top states for covid infections: New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine, Michigan, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont. The top seven states all voted for Joe Biden. They have by far the highest rates in the entire country — and, by the way, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware are the next three after Indiana. Of the top 11, only one state is a red state that has the highest rate of covid right now. Are the people in the blue states being blamed at all for the covid rates? No. It isn’t occurring anywhere, Buck.
And obviously, folks, it’s insane, right? What they were doing then is just propaganda for Democrats. Even with health and lies at stake, it didn’t make a difference. They did not care. The narrative was more important, because Clay’s point here is irrefutable. Clay, I would invite anyone anywhere from any network — or just somebody who thinks they can make the case — to explain why covid in the summer of 2021 in Florida is that governor’s fault but in New York, cases are skyrocketing, and it’s not Governor Hochul’s fault? In California, it’s not Governor Newsom’s fault? Why is that? They don’t even pretend to have an answer.
CLAY: It’s such a transparent lie and falsehood, and you’ll hardly hear it discussed anywhere. I wanted to make sure we hit it.
