Reaction Monday: C&B Open the Phone Lines for Election Analysis
14 Nov 2022
Well, most of the races have now been settled and we know the Democrats will hold the Senate and Republicans are likely to take control of the House by a very narrow margin.
Republicans will have wound up getting more votes than Democrats nationwide, but that’s not how the game is played.
Republicans received millions more votes — so far — in mid-terms. I think we’re underrating how many red voters moved from purple/blue states to red states because of covid policies. Red got redder & blue got bluer. Net benefit in short term — until redistricting — is for Dems. pic.twitter.com/FgMk7bXODb

A tiny GOP House majority, although disappointing, is still a really big deal.
Assuming Republicans take the House, it will blunt the craziest impulses of the democrats on spending and other legislation
Paradoxically, this will put Biden in a stronger position to run for re-election in 2024
