Blue Check MD Predicted Doom from Lifting Plane Mask Mandate
9 May 2022
BUCK: I’m gonna fly this weekend, and if anybody has any Chicago recommendations —
CLAY: Oh, yeah.
BUCK: — for me, I’ve never been to Chicago. Now, I’ve flown to the airport, and I did once go from the airport to, like, a Holiday Inn five minutes from the airport, but I’ve never set foot in Chicago proper in my life. As a New Yorker, as somebody who’s… I’ve been to Iraq more times and Afghanistan more times — several more times over — than I have to Chicago. I just realized this is crazy. I’ve been to every other great American city, I think, pretty much, that I can think of at this point. Large. I should say: Large American city. You know, I just got to Tuscaloosa for the first time this past year.
CLAY: You went to Birmingham. You’d never been to the state of Alabama.
BUCK: Right. That’s a smaller one. That’s more of a mid-size city. I’ve been to every large American city except for Chicago. If you have any recommendations for Chicago, by all means hit me up, send me a message on Facebook or tweet at me. But, Clay, I will be flying free faced, if you will. My face will be free of the mask, which I have not experienced that. I’m very excited about this, and there are not mask cancellations it turns out despite the tweet. Tell everybody about this MD blue check doctor.
CLAY: Yeah, first of all, by the way, Lou Malnati’s — and I may be mispronouncing that — great Chicago deep dish pizza.
BUCK: That’s great. So your cohost with celiac disease, you give him a pizzeria.
CLAY: (laughing)
BUCK: Well done, Clay! High five.
CLAY: Maybe they can do a special one that you can eat.
BUCK: “Just give me the cheese. I’ll have the melted cheese.”
CLAY: Lou Malnati’s is incredible. All right. So yeah. For most people that would be a big draw. Denise Dewald, MD. I’m not an MD. I don’t have one after my name on Twitter, as I’ve been told quite a few times. She tweeted out:
All I am gonna say is this:
Expect a lot of canceled flights because of staff shortages.

CLAY: By the way, Buck, I went through and read these comments and it’s like living in a different world: 80,000 likes on this woman’s tweet about how her medical opinion is that everyone is going to have issues over this. Now, our friend Ian Miller, who has a great book, Unmasked, I believe — we’ve had him on the show several times — he points out:
Nearly three weeks after Twitter and CNN “experts” claimed that US airlines would see mass cancellations due to maskless travel, yesterday Jet Blue cancelled 0% of flights, Delta 1%, American 0%, United 0%, and Southwest 0%
Not one of them have admitted they were wrong

CLAY: Removing masks, we all told you on this show would be the case, would have zero impact because masks don’t work anywhere, but they particularly do not work on airplanes which have incredible air filtration systems in place.
