Biden Blames Hurricane Ida on Climate Change
2 Sep 2021
BUCK: Here is Joe Biden. So, there was this crazy rainstorm last night. I think it’s the tail of Ida or something. I’m not a meteorologist, obviously, although that would be great. If you could be a meteorologist in the ’90s, early 2000s, what a fantastic gig. But, here is Biden, of course, tying it into climate change.
BIDEN: (mumbling) The past few days of Hurricane Ida and the wildfires of the West and the unprecedented flash floods in New York and New Jersey is yet another mmm-reminder of these extreme storms in the climate caisis (sic)– crisis, are here. We need to do… be miss… better prepared. We need to act. When Congress returns this month, I’m going to press further action in my Build Back Better plan that’s gonna make historic investments in — in electrical infrastructure, modernizing our roads, our bridges, our water systems, sewer and draining systems. We’re reminded, this isn’t about politics. Hurricane Ida didn’t care if you were a Democrat or a Republican, rural or urban. This destruction is everywhere!
BUCK: Clay, first of all, whenever they say, “It’s not about politics,” it’s absolutely about politics.
CLAY: Always about politics.
BUCK: And also, yeah. Weather happens and has always happened, and it can be really bad, and Mother Nature can be very rough and unforgiving. But notice how it automatically turns into a, “Let’s use this as an excuse for the commie Green New Deal put inside this massive budget bill,” which we have not forgotten about, Clay.
CLAY: Which still has to be debated.
