Assault of NYPD Officer Goes Viral, Attacker Released Without Bail

BUCK: The crime situation nationwide is a big issue, but also with Eric Adams here in New York City, supposed to clean up the city and get it back on track, and we should be seeing the crime going down year after year. Instead, recently, thanks to Democrats, progressive prosecutors, BLM… BLM is remarkable, just made everything worse for everybody, made the crime situation worse for everybody too.
How do we turn all of this around? Well, there’s this video that got a lot of attention, and we can probably post a link to it up at ClayandBuck.com. You can just see what members of the NYPD have to deal with. Someone who, I believe he’s 16 years old, and he’s just punching a cop in the face in an all-out wrestling match, essentially, and it looks like just a brawl.
Shocking video captured over the weekend in a Manhattan subway station shows youths brazenly brawling with NYPD officers. The male youth was recently arrested for illegal possession of a loaded gun & robbery, but was quickly released without bail. pic.twitter.com/IjUPZcivwi

And, Clay, the reason people got so upset about this, not only, of course, because an officer’s being assaulted just for trying to enforce the law, but also the guy was out right away. Right away. Let him out right away. Not being held. He’s not. They’re not gonna charge him as an adult. He’s gonna be out. It’s gonna be no big deal in terms of how the justice system treats him. So even Eric Adams is calling for an emergency session of the state legislature ’cause they gotta change the laws.
CLAY: If you assault a police officer — I’m curious what you think on this, Buck — to me, you should have to go to prison for a minimum of a year. At a minimum, right? Like, if you’re on video punching and attacking a police officer, I don’t understand how you don’t have to go to prison for at least a year. Bare minimum. I don’t know what the official… But the idea that you could do that and be basically immediately let right back out onto the streets is indefensible, and we saw this certainly with the Lee Zeldin attack where he said, “As soon as I get attacked, the guy’s gonna be back on the streets,” and he was.
