Psaki Thinks She’s on The West Wing or Veep
1 Oct 2021
Listen Here:
CLAY: Yesterday, Jen Psaki was asked what exactly was going on, and she reached into the pop culture universe to describe what was going to happen. It was either going to be — for those of you out there who have enjoyed either of these programs; I like them both — West Wing or one of the darkly, most comedic shows that has ever aired, Veep. I loved it. Here is that clip?
PSAKI: This is why we all came to Washington. Uh, it’s like an episode of a TV show.
REPORTER: Which TV show?
PRESS CORPS: (laughing)
PSAKI: Maybe The West Wing if something good happens. Maybe Veep if not. Uhhh, I’m not sure.
CLAY: Actually, pretty funny, I have to say.
BUCK: The West Wing is such saccharine, liberal fantasyland nonsense. In every West Wing episode it’s, “Oh, the evil, right-wing guy,” and then there’s like the liberals come together like, “Oh, we’re just going to explain to you why you’re wrong.”
CLAY: Do you like Aaron Sorkin or do you not like Aaron Sorkin?
BUCK: Oh, I cannot handle The West Wing. I got through maybe five episodes of The West Wing.
CLAY: Not just The West Wing.
BUCK: The Social Network is good for it is. It’s an interesting movie for what it is. What else are his big ones?
CLAY: A Few Good Men is phenomenal.
BUCK: That’s a good movie. I like that movie.
CLAY: I think —
BUCK: I can’t handle the truth, Clay.
CLAY: I think he’s a pretty entertaining writer, and he’s an incredible talent to be able to produce as much original contend as he has. Did you watch Veep?
BUCK: Is that Aaron Sorkin?
CLAY: No, no. She was just saying on both of those —
BUCK: Yeah, I’ve seen some of Veep. It’s funny.
CLAY: Oh, Veep is, I think, hysterical.
BUCK: It’s funny.
CLAY: One of the funniest shows, line for line. That’s the Julia Louis-Dreyfus is the vice president. And basically, she’s an incompetent politician surrounded by an incompetent political staff. It’s just a little bit like what we’ve got going on right now.
BUCK: I was gonna say, I bet there are some references over at the Naval Observatory, or naval residence and the whole vice president’s residence on that whole situation.
CLAY: Julia Louis-Dreyfus might not be as incompetent as Kamala Harris. We didn’t even talk about this, her nodding along to the Israel criticism. She is just a disaster, everything that she does.
BUCK: But that’s the classic when someone is a leftist, other leftists will always just say, “Your voice…” The thing that they will say that they believe gives them leeway is, “Yeah, your voice needs to be heard.” This is always it. That’s a classic. That’s like when the professor has to pat somebody on the back who’s saying something really stupid in class, but clearly on board for the left-wing nonsense.
“Your voice needs to be heard.” That was what Kamala Harris was saying to the woman who was talking about divesting Israel or something. Oh, no, Iron Dome, ’cause the Israelis shouldn’t be able to shoot missiles out of the sky that are trying to kill everybody.
CLAY: They were accusing Israelis of genocide, which has become kind of a significant component to the Democratic platform now, Buck.
BUCK: It’s more than one that’s calling for stuff that’s really scary over there.
