Sen. Ted Cruz on “Justice Corrupted” and Battling Liberals

26 Oct 2022

BUCK: Senator Ted Cruz of Texas joins us now on Clay and Buck. Senator Cruz, you’ve got a new book out: “Justice Corrupted: How the Left Weaponized Our Legal System.” And you are on your Truth and Courage bus tour, which is currently in Tennessee. So, the book. Tell us a bit about this one, because we talk about the weaponization of the bureaucracy and the judiciary on a regular basis. You’re a man who knows how this stuff works in detail.

SEN. CRUZ: Well, the book came out yesterday and it details exactly how Barack Obama and now Joe Biden have politicized the Department of Justice and the FBI and the CIA and the IRS and are using them as weapons to attack their political enemies. And it takes you inside the corruption.

You know, the book starts off with what happened in Loudoun County, Virginia. And we all remember Loudoun County, Virginia. A 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in school by a boy wearing a skirt in the girls bathroom. The school denied it happened. In fact, they transferred the boy to another school where he assaulted another little girl. And the parents went to the school board expressing outrage because the school was lying, insisting it never occurred. The father rightly pointed out, he said, my daughter was raped at your school and you’re not doing a damn thing about it. They responded by throwing him to the ground, handcuffing him and arresting the father.

What followed was the National Association of School Boards sent a letter to the Biden administration asking them to target parents who go to school boards, target them as domestic terrorists using the Patriot Act. And six days later, Merrick Garland moved like quicksilver, sent a formal memo directing the FBI to go after and target parents. That was an abuse of power. And they’re doing it right now if parents are going to school boards and speaking out against sexual assault, speaking out against critical race theory, speaking out against schools that shut down for months or more and refuse to teach. And the Biden administration is using the FBI as their enforcers. We obviously have seen the FBI raiding President Trump’s personal home in Mar-a-Lago. That’s never happened before in history. We see the FBI raiding pro-life activist homes, arriving with machine guns drawn and arresting them in front of their crying children. It is profoundly dangerous and it’s getting worse and worse each day.

CLAY: Senator, I appreciate you coming on. Last time Buck and I hung out with you was the Texas and Alabama football game, which was an outstanding game. I just saw that you were watching your Astros. You’re a big Houston Astros fan. They’re in the World Series. Watch them take out the Yankees. And you also went on The View. So I’m curious for the combo there. Were you surprised that The View let you all in and was the reception better in Yankee Stadium or in front of The View audience from your perspective, I give you credit for going into the lion’s den in both cases.

SEN. CRUZ: Well, I have to admit that 24 hours is some of the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. The reception was much, much better in Yankee Stadium, so I went to Game Four of the LCS and I was seated right behind home plate and in bright, bright orange Astros colors. I’m a diehard Astros fan. I’ve been since I was a little kid. And, look, you go to Yankee Stadium on the fourth game of what ended up being a sweep and knocking the Yankees out, you’re going to get, you’re going to prompt some reactions. And so there were more than a few people who suggested that I do something that’s anatomically impossible. I get that. That was not a surprise.

What was interesting is there were probably, I would say, about 150 people who came up and wanted selfies with me. Yankees fans, most of them said they couldn’t stand the Astros, but they wanted a picture anyway. So the reception, by and large, was actually quite remarkably positive, although of course people had fun also yelling because I was not a shy fan. You know, you and I have been to sports games together. And when Texas played Alabama, I root loudly for Texas. And when Houston plays New York, I root loudly for Houston. So every time we got a hit or got a Yankee out, I was standing and cheering. But that, you know, that’s part of sports and part of the fun.

The View was an absolute circus and it was great fun. I went on there to discuss the new book “Justice Corrupted,” and the reason I did is because I think conservatives, we need to reach out and connect with a lot more people than just the party faithful, than just the folks watching Fox News each night. We need to talk with young people and Hispanics and African Americans and suburban moms. And there are millions of viewers, many of them suburban moms who watch The View and who get one very, very partisan dose of propaganda. And so I think it was valuable to go on there and present an alternative view.

I encourage folks, I said, “read the book, read the book, “Justice Corrupted,” and learn the facts about how Barack Obama used the IRS to target conservatives. How Joe Biden has used the Department of Justice and FBI to go after and persecute his political enemies and understand.” And it was lively. I mean, I have to say, the hosts went after me would be a mild statement. We actually had multiple protesters stand up and scream expletives, ironically, the same expletives that the Yankees fan had screamed the night before.

BUCK: Expletive collusion.

SEN. CRUZ: (Laughing.) Okay. For example, Whoopi Goldberg, like most hardcore leftists, is obsessed with January 6th, and at one point she was yelling at me that, you know, “Your side riots, engages in violence, our side doesn’t riot.” And I just started laughing and I said, you know, “Did I miss an entire year of Antifa riots as cities burned all across America?” And Whoopi looked at me and said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t know what an Antifa riot is,” which is just bizarre. But that’s the kind of political propaganda that the people who watch that show receive. And so it was a good chance for them to hear the truth and get around the propaganda.

BUCK: We’re speaking to Senator Ted Cruz. His book just came out yesterday. “Justice Corrupted: How the Left Weaponized Our Legal System.” Senator, we got a big election in less than two weeks. We talk about it here every day in detail, so we wanted your view of what you’re seeing and what you’re expecting is going to shake out.

SEN. CRUZ: We’re going to win. We’re going to see, I think, an historic victory. As you know, I’m in the middle of a month long, nationwide 17-state bus tour. We started in Texas. We went from Texas to New Mexico to Arizona to Nevada to Utah, to Kansas to Missouri to Iowa to Ohio to Maryland to Virginia to North Carolina. We’re in Tennessee right now. We’ve got a big rally tonight in Tennessee. Then we then we go to Georgia, then we go to Florida, then we go to Michigan. Then we go back to Utah. Then we go back to the great state of Texas.

Everywhere we’re going, we are seeing packed houses. We’re seeing people energized. I’m doing rallies for Senate candidate and House candidates. I’m not on the ballot this time, so I’m just trying to help others win. I think Republicans are going to retake the House and we’re going to retake the Senate. And I think people are really unhappy about the path we’re on and the radical policies coming from this White House.

CLAY: So everybody out there who’s listening to us right now in the Nashville area, I’m going to be there with Senator Cruz, also the next congressman from the fifth Congressional District in Tennessee, which includes much of Nashville, Andy Ogles. Should be a lot of fun. We’re going to have a big turnout and that’s going to be in Franklin, Tennessee, at The Factory tonight starting about 6. It may already be sold out. I’m not even sure. I know they’re going to have like 1,000 people there or something, I was told. But just FYI, for anybody in the Nashville area that wants to go.

Quickly here, Senator, you guys, as part of your campaign, endorsed, I believe, 25 different congressional candidates. We were talking about the over-under of how many of those would win. How do you think those 25 that you guys have supported all over the country are going to do based on the trend lines that you’re seeing?

SEN. CRUZ: Look, I feel really good. I think all 25 could win. And I think we will see a substantial majority of them are likely to win come November. What I’m trying to do is support the strongest conservatives who can win, because we need not just to take majorities, we need real leaders. When we have a majority, we need to use that majority. I’ll say regarding the rally tonight in Franklin, Tennessee: You can get the information TCBusTour.com. It gives you all the stops on the bus tour. So come out, the tickets are free and and let me also just encourage your listeners on the book, “Justice Corrupted.”

One of the things it does is it gives the inside story of January 6. It’s the first book that’s been written by someone who was an active participant. I was standing on the Senate floor leading the Senate objections. I describe how President Trump asked me to personally argue the U.S. Supreme Court case had the court taken the case and I walked people through the facts, the facts of voter fraud, the evidence, the law. I walk them through the abuses of power in the Biden Justice Department. What’s happening right now, the leak of the Supreme Court decision. And so this book is designed to give you the tools when you’re talking to your friends and your colleagues and your neighbors and urging them to come out and vote. This book is designed to give you the information to counter the media propaganda.

So, go to Amazon, go to Barnes and Noble, go to wherever you buy your books and buy “Justice Corrupted.” It’s a fun read. It’s very readable. It has a lot of facts in it, and it brings you behind the curtain, behind the scenes to know what’s really happening in these fundamental battles.

CLAY: See you tonight. And it should be a fun next 13 days, I’m sure, for you on the bus tour.

SEN. CRUZ: I’ll I’ll see you tonight. Look forward to it.

Mad Mom Heidi Ganahl Can Change Colorado as Governor

26 Oct 2022

CLAY: We are joined now by Heidi Ganahl. She is the candidate for governor for Republicans in the great state of Colorado. We appreciate all of you listening, including Denver, where we are currently number one in the market. And I wanted to introduce Heidi by playing this cut because of all the things you could call Heidi, I bet a mad mom would maybe be the best thing yet. It was deployed as an insult. Listen.

POLIS: My opponent identified herself as a mad mom. I identify myself as a happy dad.

GANAHL: I am a mad mom. We have skyrocketing crime, out of control, inflation, a huge fentanyl problem that’s killing our kids. And our kids can’t read, write or do math at grade level. I have a right to be angry.

CLAY: Boom! Heidi, it seems like he walked right into that one. There are a lot of mad moms and dads all over this country over Democrat failures. What are you hearing from people in response to your debate last night?

GANAHL: Well, boy, people are really fired up. We’re getting mad moms. Texts and tweets and posts all over Colorado. So I think he created a storm with that comment. And we are mad. We’re upset about the terrible things he’s done to our state. Colorado used to be an amazing place to live. And now we have one of the highest inflation rates in the country. One of the highest crime rates in the country. We’re number one in auto theft. We’re one of the top states for fentanyl. I mean, it’s just not okay what he’s done to Colorado and we are mad.

BUCK: So, right now you’re in a competitive contest. The top issues, I assume, mirror what we see in the rest of the country, Heidi, with the economy, the border crime, some variation of those three and inflation, obviously the primary issue within the economic sector. So, what is that? What are some of the variance or some of the specificity that in Colorado you’re hearing from the voters, you know, or is there a more of a focus even on on schools or on some other issue that might make it into that top three?

GANAHL: Well, I do think it’s about our kids. And I say Colorado is now one of the most dangerous places to be a kid. We have one of the highest suicide rates for children in in the country, one of the highest drug addiction rates for kids in the country. And homelessness is rampant. Teen homelessness is skyrocketing here. And our kids are not doing well in school. Sixty percent of kids in Colorado cannot read, write or do math at grade level. So, all those things are firing up parents all over Colorado and we are ready for change. We flipped ten school boards last year. So that’s evidence that there’s something brewing here.

CLAY: Heidi, I think you’re exactly right. The Mad Mom Brigade, we started talking about this on the show last year when I was a part of that Mad Mom Brigade brigade. There were some dads there who were so fired up about kids having to wear masks, about restrictions that were still existing because of covid. I know that there have to be so many fed up people all over Colorado. Is anybody taking responsibility for this or are they pulling into a force and saying, “Well, we didn’t ever really want to shut down schools? Oh, well, we don’t even really know who to blame; that wasn’t me,” because it seems like there’s an awful lot of dodging of responsibility going on.

GANAHL: Boy. And it starts right at the top with Jared Polis. He acts like he’s very moderate libertarian. There is nothing moderate about Jared Polis. He has destroyed our energy industry here. He passed one of these, signed one of the most extreme abortion laws in the country here. And he’s doing nothing to address the skyrocketing crime and drug problem. He actually signed the bill decriminalizing fentanyl and he signed some really bad crime deals that made it very easy to stay out of jail. We have the fourth highest rate of recidivism in the country. So, that means repeat offenders are doing most of the crime.

So, it’s a hot mess and he doesn’t want to take any responsibility. In fact, I asked him to apologize to some of the parents that were in the audience that lost their children to fentanyl. And he refused. He didn’t even really acknowledge them. And it’s just heartbreaking to see that.

BUCK: Where is your opponent on the border and immigration issues, Heidi.

GANAHL: Well, he actually made Colorado a sanctuary state after saying he would not do that in his debate with his prior opponent. And it’s just making it impossible for ICE agents and law enforcement to stop the flow of fentanyl and other drugs into Colorado, because I-25 goes right from New Mexico up into Colorado, and we’ve got I-70 as well. So it’s very important that as the minute I become governor, that I cancel that sanctuary status and do all we can to give law enforcement and ICE agents the tools to stop Colorado from being one of the top drug states in the country.

CLAY: It seems like, Heidi, you’ve got a lot of reasons to be a mad mom associated with crime. And we have heard about carjackings and car theft and just all sorts of massive increases of crime that have occurred all over the state of Colorado. What are you seeing on the ground there? And is there any Democrat response to try to make it better?

GANAHL: No. In fact, they’re doubling down on their ideas and their approach to addressing crime. And it’s laughable that Jared says in the debate, we’re going to make Colorado one of the top-ten safest states in the country. Well, he’s made it one of the I think it’s fourth worst in the country now for crime that’s under his watch. So, my dad was a reserve police officer. I will be a law-and-order governor. I’m going to fire leadership in all the different departments dealing with law enforcement right now and make public safety our number-one priority here. Because, honestly, if we’re not safe, if our kids aren’t safe, nothing’s okay, nothing else matters. Inflation’s a huge issue. But we’ve got to make sure we’re safe in our neighborhoods, in our schools, and that kids have an opportunity to flourish and live here, stay here, not have to move away to another state where they can live. Live well.

CLAY: Heidi, I think it’s interesting, Buck and I have talked about this on the show and we have discussed with many different moms who are running for statewide office. And I’m just going to toss out a couple: Tiffany Smiley for Senate in Washington, Christine Drazan for the governor of Oregon, Tudor Dixon for the governor of Michigan. I’m sure there are many more that I am not mentioning. You certainly would fit that mom brigade as well. Why do you think so many Republican moms have risen up and ended up their party’s nominees all over the country?

GANAHL: Well, I think it’s about change. We just can’t stand to watch our country or our state transform into something that’s so dangerous for our children and so just disheartening. I mean, I’ve been blessed to live the American dream. I’m a kid from Monument, Colorado that got to build an amazing business around something I’m super passionate about: Dogs. I created Camp Bow Wow, the country’s largest pet-care franchise. And I want my kids to have that same opportunity. And I didn’t want to wake up in five or ten years and think I could have done something and didn’t. And all the attacks, like the craziness, they’re saying it’s like, bring it on. This is for my kids. I will always take the heat for them and do what I need to do to protect them and to make sure they have a bright future. And, honestly, I want to do that for all the kids in Colorado.

BUCK: Heidi, she’s running in Colorado. Heidi, where should people go if they want to help out? Donate to your campaign?

GANAHL: Well, thanks, guys. It’s HeidiForGov.com. We need all the help we can get. Jared Polis has spent about $25 million in the last two months, him and his groups against us. And we’re doing all we can to keep up with that. But we’ve got the heart of the people of Colorado. You can feel it around the state. We need everybody volunteering, donating, anything you can do. Follow us on social media. We’re having a lot of fun during the day-to-day on the campaign trail as well.

CLAY: Awesome stuff, Heidi. We’re wishing you well. We want people in Colorado to make sure if they’re listening to us all over the state, we’ve got a lot of big affiliates. They can make it happen for you. Thanks for the time.

GANAHL: Well, thank you. And for those mad moms and dads out there, use the hashtag #MadMom and MadDad and post some stuff telling us why you’re upset and how we’re going to get our country back.

CLAY: Amen.

Hochul’s Answer on Criminals Will Make Zeldin Governor of New York

26 Oct 2022

Last night in his debate with unelected Governor Kathy Hochul, Rep. Lee Zeldin became the voice for New Yorkers who are fed up and desperate to save their state. The New York Post cover says it best:

Why are New Yorkers leaving the state in droves? It’s failed Democrat policies. Zeldin made the point passionately.

Zeldin destroyed Hochul on her obsession with guns.

But this was the moment that could seal the deal for Zeldin.

Locking up criminals? “I don’t know why that’s so important to you.” This is a quote that will live in infamy, much like what Terry McAuliffe said about parental rights during his race with Glenn Youngkin last year.

After saying in the debate she has no regrets over her covid policies, she’s now asking New York parents to mask their kids again for respiratory illness.

Let’s hope Lee Zeldin can save the Empire State the way Rudy Giuliani and George Pataki did a generation ago, because  Hochul has learned nothing.
