Rep. Mayra Flores to C&B: This Country Is Worth Fighting For

15 Jul 2022

BUCK: Very pleased to bring — for the first time on the show to all of you — Republican Congresswoman Mayra Flores of Texas’ 34th. She’s with us now. She was the first Mexican-born female U.S. congresswoman, and she flipped that historically very blue seat down near the U.S.-Mexico border, and we’re very pleased that she joins us now. Congresswoman, thanks so much.

REP. FLORES: Oh, thank you so much for having me. Thank you.

BUCK: So, there was a lot of attention earlier this week at the “Latinx Incluxion” conference where the first lady was speaking. First of all, Clay and I are fascinated by this. We see in all the polls that the Hispanic community, the Latino community nationwide overwhelmingly rejects the use of this term Latinx. So what’s with the use of Latinx at this conference and on CNN, et cetera?

REP. FLORES: You’re right. We’re Latinos, and Joe Biden and the liberal left are completely (chuckles) out of touch with our community. They don’t see us as Americans. They’re only out and about in our communities come election time. They just don’t see us as Americans. They see us as tacos! (laughing). And they think that by giving us tacos and playing Latin music, that’s all I tell you, gonna take to obtain our vote, and that’s completely false. What’s it’s gonna take for you to get to work? That’s what it’s gonna take for us to ever vote for, you know, any Democrat. But that’s not gonna happen this coming November where we’ve had enough.

CLAY: I’m curious what you get as responses when you trot out some of these Democrat ideas. Latinx. Also, we’ve been talking today on the show having fun with the idea — and I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of these viral clips, Mayra, about the idea — that men can get pregnant.

REP. FLORES: (laughing)

CLAY: When you’re going around in your district, Texas 34 down near the border and you walk into places, what is the response in your district when you say, “Hey, you know, Democrats, they think that men can get pregnant?” How are people there responding to ideas like these?

REP. FLORES: They look at you crazy. (laughing) That’s not who we are here in South Texas in the Hispanic community. We’re about God, family, country, and hard work. We do not stand for those crazy nonsense ideals, and honestly, no one it talking about those things in my district. No one cares about Latinx in South Texas. All we want is opportunities. We want gas and groceries and the rent to go down. That’s what we’re focused on, and I think that’s why I was successful, because I focused on the issues that really mattered to my district, and Washington thinks that the United States revolves around them, but we’re not Washington.

BUCK: Congresswoman Mayra Flores with us now. She is representing Texas’ 34th Congressional District, had a huge win recent flipping that congressional district — and congratulations to you. We meant to say that before, congresswoman.

REP. FLORES: Thank you.

BUCK: But you’ve got obviously some big tasks ahead in trying to do the best you can for your district given its location along the U.S.-Mexico border. It was just reported that the largest ever seizure of fentanyl pills occurred in the last 24 hours. A million pills of fentanyl coming over and they believe from the Sinaloa cartel, trafficking them into the United States. What has Biden’s de facto open border meant in your community, and what do you want to do about it?

REP. FLORES: Border security saves lives and it protects innocent children, and the Biden administration continues to encourage people to come here illegally, knowing the dangers, knowing that the criminal organizations have taken over Tamaulipas. I have family in Tamaulipas. My grandparents are there. I have aunts and uncles and cousins that I can’t visit because I’m afraid, and people in South Texas also have families in Tamaulipas.

We understand what’s happening in the border, and the Biden administration continues to encourage illegal immigration knowing that these people are going to pay thousands of dollars to these criminal organizations that have the Mexican people terrorized and they’re also hurting the American people. If we care about immigrants, if we care about the American people, we will focus on legal immigration.

How can we help the good people who want to come here to the American dream and to work hard and do it legally, improving the legal process? But the Democrat Party continues to focus on illegal immigration, knowing the dangers and knowing that our border patrol agents don’t have the resources, don’t have the manpower. And because of it, because they’re focused on the humanitarian crisis, all of these drugs and fentanyl are coming through, hurting the American people, killing our children.

CLAY: Congresswoman, you’re hinting at it here in a big way. I saw a stat from a recent poll: 70% of Hispanic voters believe that America is the best country in the world.

REP. FLORES: Amen.

CLAY: That’s why so many people live here, want to be here. Only 28% of white, woke, progressive voters in the Democrat Party believe that America is the best country in the world. What do Hispanic voters, as you see them in your district and around the country, think about Democrats attacking this country and everything that it stands for when so many Hispanic people are willing to risk their lives to get here? What do you hear from people about America and its importance to them?

REP. FLORES: We wish we could send them to Mexico or to Venezuela and Cuba and we could bring our families that we have over there that would appreciate this country a lot more than them. Because immigrants like myself, we love this country. We love and appreciate the freedom, the opportunity that this country has given me, given us. That’s why I’m running, because I want to give back to the greatest country in the world.

I want to give back to this amazing country that’s done so much for me, that’s done so much for all of us, and this country is worth fighting for. And it’s funny because now these woke people, they want to send me back to Mexico. I have received so many messages from them, “Go back to Mexico. We don’t want you here.” They don’t want immigrants that are not obedient to them.

They want people to come here and be obedient, to follow their rules and forget about their values. We’re not gonna forget about our values. Our values are so important. We’re not going to put them aside for no political party, and that’s why for me it’s so important for us to continue fighting for our values that our grandparents and parents inherit in us and we want those values to live in our children and for many more generations.

BUCK: Just one more for you, Congresswoman Flores — and we thank you again for your time. The Red Wave that we hope on this show is coming, how confident are you that we’re gonna see large numbers of Hispanic-American, Latino-American voters as part of that wave, perhaps at the crest of the wave?

REP. FLORES: I’m very confident. We are not taking the Hispanic community for granted like the Democrat Party is. They think that no matter what that the Hispanic community is gonna vote for them. But we don’t. We’re gonna knock on doors. We’re gonna make the phone calls. We’re gonna get to work and we’re gonna earn their vote, and that’s why I believe that we’re gonna bin the majority coming this November. And I’m gonna win Texas District 34 not because I’m Republican but because of who I am, because of the work ethic that I have and also our values that align with Texas District 34 and the work that we’re gonna put in. So I’m really confident that we’re gonna do very well in south Texas and throughout the country — and we can’t do it without your support! (laughs)

CLAY: That’s what I was gonna say. If people want to support you and they’re listening to you right now, how can they do that?

REP. FLORES: Please join our team. Please donate to our campaign at MayraFloresForCongress.com.

BUCK: Congresswoman Flores, thanks so much for being with us. We appreciate it.

REP. FLORES: Thank you so much. God bless you.

Dr. Makary Covers Covid Insanity — and Future Male Pregnancies?

15 Jul 2022

BUCK: We are joined by Dr. Marty Makary — the public health expert at Johns Hopkins University — an MD, author of The Price We Pay, and one of the few people with impeccable credentials from the medical world who will actually just look at the data and speak the truth; so, he knows he is always welcome here. Dr. Makary, thanks for coming back.

DR. MAKARY: Great to be with you guys.

BUCK: I… (laughing) Doc, I’m sure you’ve seen some of this already percolating through some of the new sites on the internet, that Los Angeles County is now two weeks away from what would be a mandatory, across-the-board masking. What is it gonna take, Doc, ’cause I still see a lot of blue check MDs going around saying, “We know what works! Mask up.” And I wonder what is wrong with these people, is something no longer firing normally in the synapsis in their brains?

DR. MAKARY: Yeah. We might need to do CAT scans on the brains of some of the public health officials that are still holding on to the mask mandate because the studies have been done. Now, you can rewrite history. You can rewrite history of the Vietnam War. You can rewrite the history of anything. And right now, we’re seeing a rewritten history of mask mandates because we have good data.

If you look at the schools that were open free and clear with no masks — that was a lot of schools — and compare them to the ones with the mask mandates, those studies have been done. They’re conclusive, definitive, published, and there was no impact. So I think there are forever maskers out there that they can live their lives. I personally am not gonna enjoy my time with them. I’m gonna spend my time with people that are following the science, but there are forever maskers out there.

CLAY: You have a great piece up, and we’re gonna link it on ClayAndBuck.com. You can also see I retweeted it. But I saw this morning a really interesting data point that you shared that has not been much discussed, and that is the number of parents of kids 5 to 6-month-old that are now — maybe I should say 6-month-old to 5-year-old, young children are now — eligible to get the covid shot. And I believe the data reflected that 2% of parents are actually getting their kids those shots. You shared some of that data. What does that tell us about the way parents are responding at this point to covid?

DR. MAKARY: Well, it shows the complete disconnect. And you’re right. After nearly a month of the CDC urging parents to get their kids 6 months to 5 years vaccinated, the uptake in the United States is 2%. And, remember, some of that 2% are getting it just because their schools or summer camps are requiring it. So what percent of the public actually believes the CDC, using horrific data that’s so weak it’s embarrassing to even make it public, and they’re using that to authorize and push vaccines for kids under 5. It shows that nobody trusts the CDC anymore. The Moderna vaccine was 4% effective in babies, and statistically that number was not even significant.

CLAY: So, I want to cut you off because that is an unbelievable number. So it’s 4% effective against young kids. How in the world does this get approved at a 4% efficacy rate?

BUCK: Can I just tack on, what Clay is asking you, 4% efficacy at preventing infection? Is that what we’re talking about? ‘Cause it’s one in a million hospitalization or death for, like, 6-month-olds, right? Go ahead.

DR. MAKARY: Yeah, against asymptomatic infection, that’s right. But basically, it doesn’t work. And then what we don’t know is the risk, right? With anything we recommend it’s the benefit… You know, if you want that 4% benefit against asymptomatic infection, if it’s real, then what’s the risk of the vaccine? Well, we know some children have died from the vaccine. We know there’s been really sloppy data around it.

And the study that they used to say that it’s safe had a couple thousand kids. Well, how can you look at a rate of heart inflammation and myocarditis that occurs in one in 10,000 young males when you’ve got a study of just a couple thousand babies? That’s the absurdity, and that’s why people are leaving the CDC and FDA. They’re unhappy. I talked to them for the piece, and they’re pretty pissed off ’cause they’re smart people.

BUCK: Can I ask you…? We’re speaking to Dr. Marty Makary, health expert Johns Hopkins University. Check out his book, The Price We Pay. Doc, the other docs who are inside the NIH and the CDC… What’s gone on in those institutions at the top level — just as an outside observer who’s been covering this from the beginning — is indefensible. Are there people inside those bureaucracies who are honestly just such true believers that think the CDC and NIH have done a good job, or is everyone just scared of losing their job and so they just shut up and allow Fauci to march around with these pronouncements? I think Fauci’s the most damaging and destructive bureaucrat in the history of American public health.

DR. MAKARY: Well, it’s almost impossible to lose your job in the government, but they’re afraid of being treated badly. And they’ve said, “If we say anything, there are consequences. We will suffer.” One person described the environment as “toxic.” They said morale has never been lower, and they pointed to the NIH’s own vaccine research center in Fauci’s shop. They said almost all the senior scientists are gone. All the leadership is gone, the top three people left after long careers. They don’t feel comfortable saying publicly that the agency has lost its way because they need jobs out there in the future, but morale is at an all-time low.

CLAY: You’ve been a doctor for a long time now. You’re at Johns Hopkins. You’ve advised Glenn Youngkin. You’ve done a fantastic job, I think, speaking out about covid. One of the things that you have said consistently is it is the job of doctors and scientists in general to vigorously contest everything. In fact, that’s what the scientific method is. Have you ever seen a point in time where there is less ability to question consensus opinion in the field of medicine?

DR. MAKARY: Yeah. Right now, we have a modern-day McCarthyism, and for most of my career we never had this. We would be able to speak open. We would challenge deeply held assumptions. We would discover things in medicine. And we’ve got blind spots. But right now, there is a sense of martial law probably like what they have in China where you can’t say certain things. We’ve got a School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins that’s mostly paid for by Michael Bloomberg and is a revolving door of Democrat political appointees, and it’s very hard to anyone there to say anything, and then people leave an institution.

BUCK: Dr. Makary, I think it was at Stanford University at their graduation a couple months ago where the undergrads were unmasked outside at their graduation. Their ceremony was outdoors, Stanford, very nice climate in that time of year. But the medical school graduation had everyone masked up. When other doctors that you know see this, are they embarrassed, or do you know docs who defend this and say, “Yeah, that makes sense”?

DR. MAKARY: Oh, they defend it, but they’re defending it for political allegiances, because when I go to the doctors’ conferences — and I’ve been to about six major doctors’ conferences in the last several months with thousands of doctors — they are not wearing masks. What does that tell you? They’re shoulder to shoulder in busy social activities and events and then activities, educational and recreational. They’re not wearing masks. What does that tell you? That tells you that if the doctors don’t think the masks are needed for themselves, that it’s mostly a show out there right now because population immunity is high, and we know that cloth and surgical masks are basically not useful.

CLAY: We’re talking to Dr. Marty Makary. Shifting gears a little bit, you are a medical expert; Buck and I are not. There’s been a lot of discussion this week about whether men can get pregnant. In your esteemed history as a doctor, have you seen any men become pregnant?

DR. MAKARY: (laughing) I’ve not seen any men become pregnant, but I will tell you that this is not an ethical dilemma we have to talk about because it is not that far scientifically for it to happen. There have been uterus transplants in women. There have been about 20 of them, led at Baylor Medical Center, and a woman gets pregnant with the uterus transplant, then they take out the uterus after the pregnancy. It is medically possible to get there with a male. We’ve seen ectopic pregnancies grow to term outside of the uterus on the omental fat pad of the colon. So we need to make a decision as a society if this is a path we’re gonna go down or not.

CLAY: So, legitimately we could be facing… We have sex-change operations that go on now. There is a possibility in the future where a sex-change operation, someone could say, “Hey, I want to have a uterus implanted in me so that I could carry a baby”?

DR. MAKARY: That’s right and deliver it by C-section. It is medically feasible in the foreseeable future.

CLAY: Oh, my. Now you give me something new to worry about.

BUCK: Wow.

CLAY: My mind is blown.

DR. MAKARY: (laughing)

BUCK: It’s quite a moment right here. Whoa.

DR. MAKARY: Well, as long as the person is wearing a mask, though, it’s a safe pregnancy.

BUCK: There we go. Dr. Makary knows what’s up. Dr. Makary of Johns Hopkins University. Sir, we always appreciate you being with us. Thanks so much.

DR. MAKARY: Thanks, guys.

CLAY: Man. He has been, Buck, so brave, and a lot of people are gonna have nightmares over this.

BUCK: Men still cannot get pregnant, but he is saying there actually may come a time… So just to be very clear for everybody: The answer to the question is still 100% “no,” it has never happened. But he’s saying that medically it could be feasible to create the uterus environment in a male body in the future where the statement would actually get more complicated.

CLAY: Oh, no. This is like Frankenstein. Can you imagine, a uterus being transported into a male body so that the body could then carry a baby and then have it delivered via C-section?

Clay Loved “Endurance”; Sea Lions Scare Beachgoers

15 Jul 2022

CLAY: I finished “Endurance,” the Shackleton book.

BUCK: What’d you think?

CLAY: Oh, it’s so good.

BUCK: It’s amazing, right?

CLAY: So good, and I read it some on the beach. They’re writing about how it’s minus-20 degrees and they’re sitting in ice, and they’ve all got frostbite and everything else, and I just felt like such an absolute wuss for basically every page. And also every time one minor positive happens, the next time four things that happen are way worse. You just turn the page. “How can it possibly get worse?” Well, then the weather changed or then… Anyway, it’s a great story for anybody out there who wants a story of American triumph. You mentioned the book about the guy who got shot down, ended up in —

BUCK: “Unbroken.”

CLAY: “Unbroken,” which is also the Zampizis.

BUCK: Zamperini.

CLAY: Is an amazing story.

BUCK: Zamperini.

CLAY: This one, too, “Endurance,” and the other one I gave out that you had been reading, “Undaunted Courage,” if you want to read about just positive American triumphalism and overcoming incredibly difficult circumstances, all three of those books are phenomenal.

BUCK: The one that always sticks out for me in the Shackleton voyage is the guy who almost got “got” by the leopard seal. That’s a rough… You don’t want… People don’t realize, those things are very, very large.

CLAY: A thousand pounds.

BUCK: A thousand pounds.

CLAY: They would have to kill ’em and sometimes eat ’em.

BUCK: Yeah, and they’re carnivorous. They eat penguins and things, and one guy actually got chased across an ice floe by one. I didn’t even know that was a thing that could happen, but you did see it? Now, this was far. We are gonna bring back Clay’s Animal Thunderdome, by the way. That is in progress.

We had a great one this week with people in, I think it was the beach in La Jolla. San Diego is one of the most beautiful places. I was just actually talking to a friend of mine in the business about how if I were 22 and it was the nineties and I was starting out again, I would set up shop in San Diego, man. It is so beautiful.

CLAY: It is a phenomenal place. Also, number one in that market. Hello, San Diego. Ron Burgundy voice there.

BUCK: NBD, a little C&B action, number one. And you might have seen the video that went very viral, these people that were on the beach, they get chased. Are those elephant seals that are chasing them?

CLAY: I think that’s right.

BUCK: I think they’re elephant seals, which is massive, ask they’re chasing ’em. And you forget that those big guys can move pretty fast.

CLAY: Well, it’s a scary story. “Endurance.” That big seal, it tracked him underneath the ice! It chased him; then went underwater. He thought he was safe. It saw him underneath, and then popped up on the other side of him, which is pretty terrifying to think about for a thousand-pound animal that can eat you. And those seals had probably never seen a human before.

BUCK: Yeah, it might have been starving to death ’cause you’re talking about being down in the most inhospitable part of the entire globe, basically.

CLAY: Yes.

BUCK: You’re a prey item, my friends. Just remember that. And as we always say, it’s that time… Carrie’s actually going to Yellowstone in a few weeks.

CLAY: Oh, yes.

BUCK: Don’t pet the bison, folks. Leave the bison alone.

CLAY: And how about the guy? That huge seal… Another time, he pretended to be a penguin because they were so hungry — in order to try to get the thing to chase him; so they could shoot it and eat it. You talk about brave, when you’re trying to pretend to be food — because you’re so hungry — so you can kill the thing that’s try to eat you? That’s next level.

BUCK: See. “Endurance,” the Shackleton voyage. I told you, folks. Clay liked it. It’s worth it.

It’s a Coup! Newsom Takes Over White House, Attacks DeSantis

15 Jul 2022

CLAY: I spend a lot of time watching Marvel movies ’cause I got young kids who love superheroes and everybody out there who has watched the Marvel movies knows that they have embraced a concept called the multiverse where there’s so many different versions of reality. There is a multiverse out there, maybe it’s a 10% chance, that the presidential election in 2024 is going to be Florida Governor Ron DeSantis against California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Gavin Newsom, Buck, as soon as Joe Biden left for Israel, showed up at the White House, literally rolled up his sleeves, took his jacket off, he may have kicked his feet up on the desk, he might have been posing for photos. It was so disrespectful of Joe Biden that I couldn’t help but respect it. He also, when I was just down in Florida over July 4th, Gavin Newsom, bought television commercials airing on Fox News saying that California was actually a place for freedom and that Floridians were actually unfree because of Ron DeSantis’ leadership, which is backwards to most people, Buck.

BUCK: California under covid became East Germany with more sunshine.

CLAY: Yes.

BUCK: California was a dystopia. Not only were the things they made people do there — same thing in New York — stupid, but they were stupid, arbitrary, and unfair, meaning that it didn’t help. Why they were picking some things, what should be locked down… Remember when they were… I try to tell people this. It’s like they’ve all treated it like a nightmare they’ve woken up from but this really happened.

Remember when we were at 25% restaurant capacity, 50% restaurant capacity, 75%. They did that in New York City after their own numbers showed that less than 1% of covid was traced to the spread in restaurants. Less than 1% of the spread and they’re like, well, let’s have 25%, let’s have 50%. The people who did all of this are not very smart. And the people who went along with all of it had no ability to stand up for themselves, and it’s pathetic. And California’s about to do this again?

CLAY: Yes.

BUCK: And he’s talking about freedom? I’m going to California for Labor Day weekend — I’ve gotta go to a wedding out there — and I’m wondering, am I gonna have to double mask? Are people gonna give me weird looks?

CLAY: Buck, all Ron DeSantis has to say in response to this — and we’re gonna play you a couple audio clips here in a little bit. All Ron DeSantis has to say is, “Am I crazy, or did Gavin Newsom’s California arrest a dude who was on a paddleboard in the ocean for violating covid restrictions? Am I crazy or did they fill in skate parks with sand to keep kids from being able to skateboard there?” These are just two examples of how crazy they were.

I know, Buck, ’cause I did a radio show that all my crew was out in L.A., the sports talk show. The state of California put out rules about what sports you could play. You could play singles tennis as long as you were changing tennis balls. You couldn’t play doubles tennis because you were gonna be too close to someone else. You could play one-on-one voleyball, but he couldn’t play more than one on one. These are real guidelines and regulations that they put out.

BUCK: The fact that Newsom is picking a fight with Ron DeSantis just goes to show you that libs are living in an alternate universe.

CLAY: Yes.

BUCK: Because here’s how this would make sense. If California didn’t have a massive net loss of people… It’s a big deal to move in America, right? I mean, I may be going through this soon. It’s a big deal to move your state entirely. I’ve done it before. People do it. I’m not saying that but if you have a family and kids, job. So, a lot of states people wish they didn’t have to get stuck in, they are stuck in. When you see the outflow from California, people are voting with their feet — which is even more profound in a lot of ways than voting at the ballot box, right?

It’s a much bigger decision they’re making for themselves. California is the place everyone flees from. Florida is a place everyone flees to. And Gavin Newsom wants to pick a fight? I mean, the ladies of The View, for example, know that Ron DeSantis is a threat because here’s the problem. Not only is Ron DeSantis a better governor than Gavin Newsom, Ron DeSantis is doing things at the state level that Joe Biden as president was always trashing. And we’ve seen that he was wrong too. This is what they’re saying about the DeSantis situation.

CLAY: They’re so dumb.

BUCK: He’s actually… I forget that guy. He’s actually pretty smart and he just had to throw that at the end, he’s like, “The people that are giving money, guys, are not the ones that are bankrupt right now.”

CLAY: Look, the amount of stupidity that comes out of New York and L.A. on a regular basis — and I know when you move out of New York City, Buck, you’re gonna be like, “Oh, my goodness. It’s so good to live in the real world.” But this is why I’m so thankful that I came out of talking about college football. ‘Cause I’m used to being in crowds of a hundred thousand people who are totally freaking normal, and it’s wild to me.

BUCK: In my first month as a Florida resident, I’m going to have a home-based arsenal that would make Schwarzenegger in the Commando movies cry, okay? It’s gonna be amazing, the freedom that I will feel.

CLAY: You’re are leaving New York, and you’re not gonna be like, “Oh, my God. I’m in Florida. I have no freedoms here.” I think it’s important to recognize. I talked this when I sort of it’s like going Through the Looking-Glass into Alice in Wonderland or if you’re a Stranger Things person, it’s like going into the upside down. This mirrored reality that isn’t reflective of the real world is so omnipresent in social media.

I talked about this when Senator Josh Hawley had seen discussion with the Cal Berkeley law professor and the woman was refusing to say that — she continued to argue that men could get pregnant. And I went on social media, and all the blue checks, Buck, are like, “She slayed him! Oh, look, Josh Hawley got destroyed,” and Gavin Newsom is buying directly into this absurd worldview. In fact, I believe we have audio of him. He was asked, “Hey, what would you say to Ron DeSantis if you were asked about him?”

BUCK: Wait. Can we play that?

CLAY: Play that when we come back?

BUCK: Let’s do that ’cause we want to continue this one, because I do think that the country, irrespective of the presidential election, politics in America is turning into a California versus Florida throwdown. So, we can come back to that in a moment.

CLAY: I think that’s right. We’ll play that audio for you if you haven’t already heard it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

BUCK: Now, we promised the Gavin Newsom audio here where he’s going after Ron DeSantis.

BUCK: Can I just say it will be fascinating to listen to Gavin Newsom explain to the residents of Florida including the very substantial Hispanic population of Florida —

CLAY: And Texas.

BUCK: — that is, with each passing month, even more supportive of Ron DeSantis.

CLAY: Including Mayra Flores, who we’re gonna talk to next hour.

BUCK: Just how racist Ron DeSantis is? Really? Look at the actual numbers there, Gavin. Good luck with that.

CLAY: That whole clip from him is indicative of a total disconnection with the vast majority of the country because DeSantis and Abbott and Governor Bill Lee and Kevin Stitt from Oklahoma and Brian Kemp from Georgia. I could run through a bunch of different red state governors, but that criticism rings so hollow. In fact, everybody out there driving around right now listening to us in red states is saying, “Boy, he’s not only attacking the governors, he’s attacking us.”

I hope that Ron DeSantis gets to go against somebody like Gavin Newsom, because I think Gavin Newsom has a fundamental misunderstanding of what the country wants, needs, desires, and reflects and represents. I think he would get destroyed ’cause he’s running like the country agrees with California with no idea of how much everybody hates California in many parts of the country right now.

So, I just… I don’t know exactly how all of this will end up shaking out. Again, I was talking about there’s a multiverse universe where we end up in DeSantis versus Newsom, but it’s clear based on the White House visit and the pressure, the running the ads in Florida, Newsom is trying to step in and become one of the candidates for Democrats in the very high level for 2024.

BUCK: Let’s be honest. If we’re just looking at this objectively, even if you’re a Democrat, Gavin Newsom — as much as I don’t like a lot of things about Gavin Newsom, Gavin Newsom — is a person who is at least physically and mentally capable of doing the job.

CLAY: Yes.

BUCK: Joe Biden is not. So, you start there. Right? This isn’t a crazy idea. And every time Kamala now appears in the news, it’s just another version of people going, “Oh, my God. This woman is the vice president?”

CLAY: I do think Newsom is completely untested in the way that California has become a one-party state, and I think he would get… The Mike Tyson line: “Everybody’s got a plan ’til they get punched in the face.” I think Newsom is not used to getting punched in the face, really, and I think he would get wrecked on a national scale.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

BUCK: The crime situation, if you look at state and local places like New York, for example, we’re gonna have our friend Lee Zeldin squaring off against the unelected governor Kathy Hochul. And you’re gonna see this playing out I think in a number of gubernatorial races. I’d be very interested — Clay, we should probably dig in a little bit to see — what it’s been like in Atlanta last few years in terms of crime.

CLAY: Massive increases.

BUCK: Right.

CLAY: Massive increases, I know. Yeah.

BUCK: Progressive prosecutor, I’m sure, or someone close to a progressive prosecutor running the show there. So the people of Georgia should really know that in the major cities and even, as we say, smaller cities, crime has gotten out of control.

CLAY: Crime is so out of control in Atlanta, Buck, and I know we got a lot of listeners down in Atlanta. The Buckhead area of Atlanta, which is one of the wealthier areas of the community, has been talking about seceding for some time from the city of Atlanta’s government because the people there feel like they’re totally unprotected, given the massive increase in crime that has taken place there.

BUCK: I would just note that Clay and I have been doing the show together for a year, we’ve been talking about the crime issue, we’ve been saying now for over a year, look at the numbers around the country: A 30% increase in homicides in 2021 over the previous year, the biggest increase in one year since they have been nationally tracking homicides, okay? So we had… It’s not like it was just a little bit of a blip on the radar. This was a massive move in the wrong direction, and it coincided with a perfect storm of the BLM movement, the defund-police movement, the progressive prosecutors, and the ending of mass incarceration.

All of those pieces together, people say, “Well, why’d this happen?” like we don’t have the answers. We do have the answers. Now you see that even Democrats, while they won’t say “Clay and Buck were right” — they should — but they’re making decisions that show that what we have been talking about on this show, which is rooted in the data, which is rooted in the reality, is true. We already had Chesa Boudin knocked out of the office, district attorney’s office in San Francisco.

And now the effort to get rid of DA George Gascon, the district attorney of Los Angeles, “has cleared its first hurdle as the registrar prepares a full check of signatures.” That’s the headline up on FoxNews.com right now. So it’s moving all along. Clay, if we get the one-two here, this would be a seismic shock to the progressive judicial and criminal justice philosophy. But here’s what happens when they asked Gavin Newsom — this is such a Newsom moment — what do you think about the job that Gascon’s doing?

BUCK: Can you…? Look at how slippery he is, Clay. You are the governor of California. You are asked about the biggest city in your state, whether the DA is doing a good job. You are technically the chief executive branch official of your state. Clay, he has no feelings on the matter, apparently.

CLAY: Well, it’s so funny to me because exactly. Your number one job, probably, if you are the governor of California is to know what? How highly elected officials in the biggest cities in your state are doing their jobs. That’s your job. That’s like the owner of an NFL franchise being asked about how his coach is doing and saying, “Well, I really haven’t looked at it that closely.” No, no, no! That’s your job, to look at it closely, and he’s trying to dodge it there.

But ultimately, he just decides, “Screw it, I’m gonna cut his legs out from underneath him,” and this is… I said it, Buck. Think about what Gavin Newsom is doing here. He showed up at the White House — I’ve never seen this happen before, have you? — The day after the president left and walked around the White House in his shirt sleeves not even wearing a jacket, who goes to the White House as an elected governor of the biggest stately in the country when Joe Biden isn’t there? It feels like he showed up basically to run a one-man coup. It’s so disrespectful to pull off to even think of doing it.

BUCK: They got a photo of him wearing a robe and some fuzzy slippers that said POTUS on them in the residence?

CLAY: He might as well have had a toothbrush in his front lapel.

BUCK: “I like this place.”

CLAY: It’s clear that he’s trying to force Joe Biden out, and we know Joe Biden’s over in Saudi Arabia. I thought it was strange — I don’t know if you did, Buck — why isn’t Jill Biden on the trip with him?

BUCK: I think Jill Biden’s laying low for a few days, my friend. I think she doesn’t want to show up in Saudi Arabia and say (impression), “I love your falafels.”

CLAY: (laughs) But the reason why she was speaking at the Latinx conference is ’cause they made a calculated decision not to send her with Joe to the Middle East, which means who’s getting him dressed? Who’s putting him to bed at night? Who’s making the Metamucil? Like, who’s actually taking care of Joe Biden on the road when he’s in Israel and in Saudi Arabia?

BUCK: On your point about Gavin Newsom trying to really push —

CLAY: Elbow him out.

BUCK: — the issue a little bit with Joe Biden, I feel… I don’t like saying this, but he’s right. This is the other thing. Gavin Newsom is right. This is outrageous. This guy shouldn’t be the president for anyone at any time. So, in a sense, as gross and grasping as Newsom is here, he’s actually doing… This would be better for our purposes. It…

CLAY: That’s a good question for you.

BUCK: I was almost gonna say, “It’s better for the country,” but I can’t bring myself to say that. (laughing)

CLAY: I mean, who is a worse candidate than Joe Biden? You could make the argument that the only person worse than Joe Biden right now for the Democrats would be Kamala Harris. Joe Biden, all the poor chases he’s made, imagine if he actually had a competent vice president? Democrats would be kicked him to the curb and allowing that competent vice president to run as the incumbent in a heartbeat. But instead, Kamala has been so bad, she may be the only person who would be more incompetent than Joe.

BUCK: There’s a broader lesson, too, from the Kamala situation, which is that picking individuals for the vice presidency or for any job because of the optics of diversity is not something that has results that we are going to like when it’s a really important job, right? It should be the best person for the job regardless of the diversity optics of the situation. That should not be a consideration for the president, the secretary of defense, the Treasury secretary, you name it, any job.

It shouldn’t be for the guy or gal who’s gonna be running a company that’s down the street from you, but the point here is they pushed this because of on you it looked to have the first minority female vice president alongside Joe Biden, and no one really ever stopped to think, “Well, hold on. What if we actually need to have a vice president who’s ready to take over? Is Kamala ready for that?” Even Democrats know the answer is no. She is not.

CLAY: Well, that’s the problem in general with the entire cabinet. It’s not even just Kamala Harris. It’s every single person that Joe Biden picked. It is a cabinet of incompetence. And it’s a cabinet only based on cosmetic diversity. Diversity of opinion is key when you have any cabinet because you want rigorous debate about so many different challenging issues in the country. All Joe Biden cared about was, “Does this person check a box so that I can argue, ‘I’ve got the requisite Hispanic, I’ve got the requisite black, I’ve got the requisite gay, I’ve got the requisite…’?

Every little identity politics coalition that exists inside of the very fractious Democrat Party right now, Joe Biden made a calculated decision that he was gonna check the box. It’s all cosmetic diversity — and as a result, Buck, I don’t even know who you could point to in the Biden administration, the entire administration and say, “Hey, you know what? This person hasn’t done an awful job.” Think about it. “This person hasn’t been a disaster.” They all have.

BUCK: Can we bring it back to Newsom and Gascon for a second. You know that Democrats, they will back another Democrat until it is truly politically disastrous for them to say so. And that’s where you are with these district attorneys in places like Los Angeles. Of course, what’s the easy thing for Gavin Newsom speaking…? Gascon is Latino, and he’s very much a man of the left, and Gavin Newsom, this is the DA in the biggest city in his state.

You’d think you back him up. He’s a member of his party. Back him up all the way when he says, “I don’t know. I don’t have the insight into whether he’s doing a good job.” It’s so disingenuous. What is Gavin Newsom really saying here? I don’t have access to the internet, and I can’t read a newspaper? Never mind all the staff briefings and everything else that he’s getting. He shows… But this is kind of like when he showed up. Remember when the railyards…?

He actually mentioned in that sound bite the rail yards were just scenes of constant systematic theft, a lot of Amazon packages and other things, and it looked like a massive trash site from a Third World hellhole. And Gavin Newsom shows up, he’s like, “Wow. I cannot believe this kind of thing is happening in the great state of California.” It’s like, “What do you mean! There is an app in San Francisco that helps people avoid stepping in human poop in the most commonly walked through areas of that city. You don’t know what’s going on?” This is what they’re reduced to.

CLAY: And also speaking of the upside down, the mirror crazy world that we’re living in: The reason why Gavin Newsom was ostensibly in Washington, D.C., was to accept an award for how good California has managed education — when anyone who has a functional brain and has paid attention at all to the covid shutdown situation knows that of every state out there, California did the least for the most disadvantaged kids of almost any state in the entire country in terms of not allowing them to get a great education because of covid without providing them any protection whatsoever.

BUCK: I would just tell anybody who’s wondering, if you had been to, let’s say, Santa Monica or Venice Beach in the late nineties or the early 2000s, you would think that this is one of the most beautiful, naturally gifted places, a perfect climate, a gorgeous coastline, amazing beach. We’ve said this. California is like paradise as a place.

CLAY: Yes.

BUCK: Amazing climate, amazing food, all this stuff, and it was very Republican. People say, “Well, why are all the great rich states blue?” No. Because libs are an invasive species. They come in; they take over from the top.

CLAY: Reagan and Nixon came out of Southern California.

BUCK: Yeah. Reagan country was California, and what you see is that they have — just go walk around Venice Beach or Santa Monica, spend some time there — homeless encampments everywhere, people rolling around in the dirt literally ’cause they’ve had too much fentanyl, maybe they’re even ODing. There’s crime happening all the time, they don’t want to talk about it. It’s a mess. And for what? Because a bunch of libs feel good about themselves telling the police, “Hey, hey! Let’s not enforce the laws against shoplifting.”

CLAY: Here’s an easy way to think about it. This is a fun parlor debate, fun dinner table conversation. If the United States had been settled from west to east, no one would live in the Northeast. Everyone would have been like —

BUCK: Whoa, whoa hey, hey, hey!

CLAY: I’m telling you —

BUCK: Settle down there, Tennessee man.

CLAY: The Northeast is not great. They would have stayed on the West Coast.

BUCK: You have not spent time in the Hudson Valley or in Vermont in the late spring.

CLAY: I have. I have. I’ve been all these places. They would have never been anywhere near as popular if we’d started out west and moved east. Northeast would have been the least settled part of the United States.

BUCK: Our large audiences in the Northeast, it’s @ClayTravis on Twitter, by the way. @ClayTravis.

CLAY: Seattle, San Francisco, Portland, all jewels of this country destroyed by Democrat policies.

BUCK: Well, that’s totally true. Yeah, that’s totally true.

CLAY: Disgraceful what they’ve done.

Biden Handshakes His Way Through the Middle East, But Fist Bumps MBS

15 Jul 2022

BUCK: Never forget that they told you you should never shake hands again. Welcome back to Clay and Buck. Remember that in the early days? By the way, we’re not done, as they keep telling us. And for those of you who live in the red states, you know that after this midterm election, if Biden can, they’ll come up with new ways to harass you. You better get ready for those masks on planes, folks.

They’ll bring that back. These people are out of their minds. Biden’s policy during his Mideast trip has been a no-handshake policy, Clay. No shaking of hands, even though we have known now for over two years that it is not actually a contact-based virus. It is a fine aerosol mist-spread virus, meaning you can’t see it, it’s in the air, and people inhale it.

It gets in their nose, their eyes, and there you go. But Biden has been fist bumping, including the formerly called — formerly called by Biden — “pariah state” of Saudi Arabia. He fist bumps when he comes off the plane in the Middle East. I mean, this whole covid ritual thing is truly religious belief for these individuals. It is.

CLAY: I think he’s between a rock and a hard place here on the fist bump. Let me say this. I would love to know all… I’d love to see a transcript of the behind-the-scenes negotiations.

BUCK: I got it. That was a Mideast pun, by the way: Iraq.

CLAY: Oh, very good. That would have been very good. What’s the interaction going to be? “He’s not gonna shake your hand, but he’ll go with the fist bump instead.” So Biden, to your point, he’s caught between a rock and a hard place. He is now like in a really interesting spot because they don’t want the image of him shaking hands with Mohammed bin Salman, MBS — the basic default ruler of Saudi Arabia — because he called them a pariah state and said he wouldn’t basically have any interaction with them at all over the murder of Jamal Khashoggi during the course of his campaign.

So they don’t want the handshake for that reason. They also are trying to claim that because of covid, it’s not safe to handshake. Now, the reality is Biden’s been handshaking like crazy all throughout the United States over the last couple weeks and he shook hands with everybody in Israel, ’cause I think he’s not smart enough to remember that he’s not supposed to shake hands. Also, Buck, you know, even if you’re thinking to yourself, “Hey, I’m not gonna shake hands,” when someone extends a hand, you end up shaking hands.

BUCK: Oh, no, I shake hands, period. I’m not doing this thing.

CLAY: You’re in a position of “I’m not gonna do this,” it’s a natural reaction to shake somebody’s hand when they try to shake your hand.

BUCK: We need someone to ask, though, Rochelle Walensky of the CDC, what are the risks of Biden creepily sniffing people’s heads from behind? Is that a mechanism for the spread of covid? Can the covid go up through Biden’s nostrils when he’s sniffing women’s hair from behind for no reason, or kissing their forehead like a creepster? Is that a covid transmission risk? I just want an official statement on it.

CLAY: Is Biden the only person in his White House who hasn’t tested positive for covid after getting the covid shots, by the way?

BUCK: I believe he’s had covid. They’ve just lied to us about it.

CLAY: I think so too.

Big Win for America! Manchin Sinks the Biden Agenda Again

15 Jul 2022

CLAY: I want to talk about some positive news, Buck. Joe Manchin — the most sane Democrat in the country, Joe Manchin — has been right about inflation. He shot down Build Back Better last year right before Christmas. He also has now decided, according to multiple reports, that he will not support any tax increases and also will not endorse any of the climate change provisions that Democrats were trying to get him to endorse. As a result, Joe Biden’s agenda as president of the United States is effectively over.

The Senate is going to go into recess on July 31st, I believe. That means the midterms then come up. Republicans are going to take the House and that will mean that really nothing gets passed. If you’re out there and you’re a small business owner, there will be no tax increases. The Trump tax cuts will remain in effect from 2017 all the way to 2025, maybe more tax cuts if Republicans can win the House, the Senate, and the White House in 2024.

But, Buck Sexton, if there was any sanity at all in the Democrat Party, they would be talking about nominating Joe Manchin to be their presidential candidate in 2024. Instead, Joe Manchin, if he runs for reelection in West Virginia, which Donald Trump won by almost 40 points, is either going to have to run as a Republican or an independent. Democrats are going to kick him to the curb. It doesn’t matter that he was right about everything economically; he went against the party, and that is unacceptable. But this is a big win for America. Thankfully, he will not allow Joe Biden’s agenda to get passed.

BUCK: You know, to your initial statement, though, Joe Manchin is nowhere near crazy enough for the Democrat Party.

CLAY: That’s right.

BUCK: They’re not gonna… He wouldn’t get the nomination in a million years. I mean, honestly, you and I are about as likely to get the nomination as Joe Manchin from West Virginia. And that’s for a lot of reasons. The money in the Democrat Party comes from New York, the D.C. area, and California.

CLAY: Everybody’s paying for Stacey Abrams’ campaign right now.

BUCK: That’s exactly right. Stacey Abrams, for everyone who’s watching that Georgia gubernatorial race, she is an outside-funded governor.

CLAY: Yep.

BUCK: A majority, a huge majority of her money is coming from people who live in those three places — New York, the D.C. area — so that’s Washington, D.C., and then those northern suburbs much Virginia that are among the wealthiest per capita counties like Loudoun and Fairfax in the country, and then obviously California. So, you have to be a pro-abortion nine months of a pregnancy, climate change lunatic, January 6 was an insurrection, BLM-supporting, double-mask leftist to get money from those places which you would need to be competitive, right?

So, that’s why… To the point about how the Democrat Party’s gone effectively crazy, they’ve always had the crazies. There were crazies in the Democrat Party stretching back for the last 20 years. But now what we’ve seen is that they’re actually calling the shots. And people say, well, what about Joe Biden? Exactly. Joe Biden is the candidate that we said he would be from the very beginning of his campaign, which is the Trojan horse, which is the guy who presents one idea of what the Biden White House will be.

But you look at the advisors and the agenda and the policies and the things that he’s done, and you have effectively the same president you would have if you had a president AOC in terms of who’s around. I mean, maybe that would be a little crazier, but it’s certainly trending in that direction. Joe Manchin has this very straightforward approach, one, I think he wants to keep his job. Why go along if the Democrats are the ones who are about to get crushed, he’s the guy who looks smart. He’s gonna see ripping around in his Maserati. You know he drives a Maserati?

CLAY: I do. And he lives on a boat in the Potomac River.

BUCK: He’s living it up, buddy.

CLAY: I respect Manchin’s unabashed redneckdom, as somebody who grew up in a red state surrounded by a lot of rednecks owning a sports car and living on a house boat is like West Virginia royalty country roads, baby. I love it.

BUCK: The first time I ever saw that was actually Don Johnson as Crockett in Miami Vice. Remember? He was a cop who lived on a house boat who drove a Ferrari. Yeah.

CLAY: I didn’t even think about that, basically that Manchin is Don Johnson, except living in West Virginia as opposed to Miami.

BUCK: They both got good hair too. But the point here —

CLAY: I was noticing that the other day. He does have great hair for a man of his age.

BUCK: If he’s listening right now, he’s getting a lot of love on the Clay and Buck show.

CLAY: Yeah.

BUCK: We gotta keep his feet to the fire, make sure he doesn’t cave, Clay. I’m worried here that… I shouldn’t say “worried.” It’s not over ’til it’s over, right? I mean, it looks like right now it’s a done deal. And I know the schedule means that it’s gonna be coming upon us very quickly, but I do think there’s some desperation in the Democrat camp over this one. Manchin on Wednesday said that it’s pretty straightforward. We should be cautious in this moment heading into a recession where everyone’s paying sky-high prices for gas, where inflation’s over 9%. Maybe now is not the time to be throwing it against the wall to see what happens.

MANCHIN: Basically, everyone should be very conscious of what we’re doing and how we’re approaching things now and looking at anything that could inflame the inflationary high numbers that we have.

BUCK: How much more straightforward can it be than that? Don’t spend a whole bunch of more money when you’re in a period of high inflation looking at a big recession.

CLAY: He’s written several different op-eds over the years and he’s been consistent basically since Joe Biden came into office that he was incredibly worried about the inflationary pressures that additional government spending we’re going to bring to bear in this country. And he’s been proven time after time to be right. And we should mention — and this is something else that Republicans should be hammering on the campaign trail this fall — Joe Biden’s agenda is a disaster, what he’s actually accomplished.

We would be in the midst of a near inflation apocalypse if Joe Biden had been able to pass his Build Back Better agenda. So, as bad as things are by Joe Biden, don’t allow him to argue that the reason things are bad is because his agenda didn’t get passed. The reason why things aren’t worse is because Manchin and Sinema stood up and refused along with all of the Republicans in the Senate to allow this agenda to be passed.

BUCK: Inflation can destroy an economy, it can destroy a country, actually. If you look through the history, fiat currencies, as a general rule, have a very troubling pattern of eventually crashing into oblivion. And inflation in any number of periods in history has brought down governments, has brought down societies, has led to major conflicts. Inflation is no joke friends, right? We’re dealing with inflation that hurts. But if you just keep pushing, they thought… Oh, Clay, it was Modern Monetary Theory. They were effectively doing. They just weren’t calling it that. And some people are saying, well, hold on. That’s a great idea except it’s a crazy idea because you’ll actually debase your currency.

CLAY: And people who don’t know what that is, modern monetary theory, effectively they were arguing, we can spend as much money as we want and there are no consequences. That basically in essence is the idea behind modern monetary theory.

BUCK: The Bernie advisers and the people that will talk about MMT would claim that you spend the money that is socially necessary and then you manage inflation on the backside. The problem with that is, what is necessary, right? If you think that there’s no real risk because you can always print more — if you believe you can control the inflation on the backside of this — well, then, why not just spend what you want to spend because you can control it.

The problem is, Clay, they can’t control it. The problem is there are actual market forces that are at work that go beyond the dictates of the government. And this is why, you know, when you see countries that have super high inflation, what are some of the things they start to do? I mean, you had this in Venezuela. They start saying, well, no, the price of that dishwasher is half what the actual price is in our currency.

CLAY: That’s right.

BUCK: And then that makes everything worse and then people go to the black market and then the government actually creates the problem and then in telling people they’ll fix the problem, they take away more individual rights, including property rights, of course, and they make the whole situation a worse situation by spending. This is where the government is effectively operating a printing press in response to the overuse of the printing press.

CLAY: And it’s, sadly, what Joe Biden tried to do when he said, “I’m calling on all you gas stations to lower the price of gas at your pumps! We’re in a battle with Ukraine.” It’s a fund… This is what we talked about yesterday. The average Biden economic adviser as 2.4 years of actual experience in business. That is a scintilla. They don’t understand basic market forces. Any anyone out there, you want to know why Venezuelans are overwhelmingly voting Republican?

You want to know why so many people from Latin-American countries in South Florida are such massive supporters of Republicans? It’s ’cause they know what bare shelves look like. They know what it’s like to go into Cuba where the government is artificially saying, “Hey, you have to charge this.” You can’t run a business that requires you to sell products for less than you have to pay to acquire them. And that is the fundamental failure of understanding basic economics and basic markets. And Joe Manchin, to his credit, unlike almost every other Democrat, seems to understand that.

BUCK: And let’s just take a look at this. Venezuela in 2021 had an inflation rate, according to Bloomberg, of 686%, folks, okay?

CLAY: That’s not ideal.

BUCK: That’s not what you want. That’s not a good situation. Now, you might be saying, “Oh, that’s Venezuela. We’ll never get there.” Yeah, but what happened was they started to use social justice principles and socialism in place of looking at the markets and what actually is the functioning of business and how businesses operate, and they completely… A country that was the wealthiest… It was, I believe, in the 1990s the third wealthiest country per capita in the Western Hemisphere. It was U.S., Canada, Venezuela. The large part ’cause of all the oil but it was —

CLAY: They still have the largest collection of oil in the world.

BUCK: They have oil reserves in the world, bigger than Saudi Arabia. So, a country, just… You know, the left hates talking about this. You’ll notice very little coverage of Venezuela in the New York Times, you know, Democrat media. They took a country that is sitting on a sea of liquid wealth, literally has black gold reserves coming out of the ground like you can’t believe, worse than any other place on the planet, their inflation rate last year was 686% because of why? The morons in charge who are like, money for everybody, we’ll just give everybody all the stuff and we’ll set all the prices and we’ll also do a lot of narco trafficking on the side so the people in charge can stay rich.

CLAY: It’s crazy. But good news as we roll into the weekend. No tax increases until probably at the earliest 2025. So, if you have a small business, if you have a business that you’re struggling to keep afloat and dealing with all the increases in prices and everything else that’s going on out there, finding workers, then this is at least Washington getting out of the way and not making things worse for you, when Joe Biden definitely would have if he had gotten his way.

Fauci Wants You to Wear a Mask in a “Congregate Setting” Again

    14 Jul 2022

CLAY: Dr. Fauci, the Smurf tyrant, the worst bureaucrat in American history, has crawled out of his bunker. I guess he’s recovered from covid. Despite the fact that he was double covid shotted and double vaxxed — he’s had four covid shots — he still got covid. And he now is wanting everybody to know: Covid’s still not over, guys, and you need to be wearing a mask if you are indoors.

This is Dr. Fauci on CNN. This is not from March of 2020 or May of 2020. It’s from yesterday. Listen.

BUCK: (impression) “I hope I continue to appear on TV to tell everybody in the seafoam-green region up here not to be confused with chartreuse over there. We know what to do with our masks in the chartreuse zone, but then when we go more like school bus yellow, we’re thinking two masks, maybe plus face shield. It’s just the logical thing to do.”

CLAY: Has anyone ever used the word “congregate” more than Dr. Fauci? Can we get a “congregate” tally? It’s a word that I’ve almost heard no one use. It feels like every 10th word for Dr. Fauci is “congregate,” and the best Fauci clip I’ve seen lately… I don’t know if you saw this, Buck, but I’m a big Curb Your Enthusiasm fan. And the Curb Your Enthusiasm music, Larry David, came off of Seinfeld. They’ve done like 10 seasons on HBO. The Curb Your Enthusiasm music is incredible.

But every time I hear Fauci speaking now, I think in my head of this video that was shared where Fauci is just kind of rambling on about his symptoms and the different variants and the congregate settings and everything else. And they just start playing that (singing), Curb Your Enthusiasm music. I can’t not think about it now when I hear him talking. We need to play that. For anybody out there who’s a Curb fan, it is such a perfect example of Fauci, where you just basically are tuning him out and he doesn’t even realize he’s being tuned out.

BUCK: Think about this. There’s so many ways that you can just come to the obvious conclusion that Fauci is a fraud and is honestly vile in so many ways. He is supposed to be just about the science, and he wants to stay in this role. And he says this is about saving lives. Right? It’s about saving lives. That’s why he does what he does, and yet he won’t actually subject himself to questions from people who don’t agree with him.

He is an unfireable bureaucrat who appears on TV during covid season when the Democrats want him to every five minutes. He’s like the little Smurf of the CNN greenroom. This guy must live there in a little mushroom. And yet he appears and he’s on TV every five seconds. Why won’t he ever just subject himself…? You know, people say, “Oh, ’cause you guys, for example, would get…” I could be a little irascible with him. I would try to be cool, but it’d be tough.

Ask him real questions, though. What’s the worst thing that could happen? He could always end an interview if somebody’s being truly just disrespectful, but I would really want to ask him questions. I would want to know why he doesn’t tell people that masking up outside is dumb, because I see it all over New York City still, never mind in Asheville, North Carolina. Why won’t he just tell people, “Don’t do that”?

CLAY: It’s a great question — and for people out there who’ve forgotten, we have officially requested Dr. Fauci on this radio program. It’s the biggest radio program in the country. A lot of you listen on podcasts too. We appreciate you. They said that he didn’t have time to do it. He does every other media outlet. He was doing random YouTube shows there for a while with 100 viewers.

BUCK: He was doing podcasts with people who literally live in their parents’ basement and are generally talking about the best way to arrange your petunias. He would do anyone’s show for a while. He will not do the largest — by audience reach — radio show in our time slot in the country. I don’t understand. Well, no. I’m sorry. Scratch that. We all understand why he won’t do it. But how can anyone take this guy seriously when he won’t subject himself to questions?

CLAY: I just love that he says he doesn’t have the time, when we see — to your point — he basically sleeps in the CNN greenroom. He’s on MSNBC anytime they want him to be on, and you know as the fall season progresses the Midterm Variant is coming because they’re going to try to justify — you know this is coming — as much remote voting as they can.

BUCK: They’ll have mail-in voting and all kinds of possible nonsense, and that’s why the Democrats even though Fauci they realize is not the popular, cuddly grandfather during covid that he was made out to be. But I have so many questions that I would want to ask. I would put out this challenge to Fauci. I’ll buy “The Fauch” a steak, all right? We’ll send him to Morton’s in D.C. if he can come on the show and tell me one time in one place in the world where masking up indoors substantially by the data decreased the spread of covid. Show me one place.

CLAY: It doesn’t exist. There’s not a single place that you could point to. L.A. in Orange County, Nashville, Williamson County — the places where they have instituted incredibly Draconian mask policies — compared to places that didn’t have them, virtually identical. Masks don’t work despite the fact that after two years Dr. Fauci is still advocating for it.
